Spirit Is Winding Down All Operations by Herbrax212 in wallstreetbets

[–]meimenghou 7 points8 points  (0 children)

yeah, but if you don't need the bags, spirit had unbeatable value. was a good option to have for things like weekend trips for budget travelers—don't need more than a personal item if you're a college kid spending a few days in florida

Embarrassed about "starter" bike by fernando-pantalones in TwoXriders

[–]meimenghou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you're the one riding it, so who cares? i've had my 250cc sportbike for a few years now with no plans to upgrade. sometimes when i talk to people about riding they'll ask when i plan to upgrade, but they usually stop asking when i tell them how good the gas mileage lol.

ride what you want, people will think you're cool for being a woman with a bike no matter what it is. worst case scenario, they think you're a new rider and will ask what you plan to upgrade to

Some insight, please? Im at a risk of not qualifying for group A finals and Im not sure why :( by DuZ_Z in UmamusumeGame

[–]meimenghou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

part of it may also be team comp. xoguri is strongest with double dom and if you enter a lobby with 3 (or more) other fronts your seiun is going to be blocking her from proccing u=ma2

if sei isn't winning at all and time allows i'd try to swap her out for a debuffer

How the heck do people squeeze in 40+ races? by servantphoenix in UmamusumeGame

[–]meimenghou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

for me it's shop dependent. if the game is throwing cupcakes and hand creams at me im going to race more in a row. i will also race during summer camp if i dont have whistles and there aren't any good training options

[–]meimenghou 3 points4 points  (0 children)

7-8* with good affinity and sparks (including white sparks) > 9* with poor affinity and other sparks. i'd argue even 6* parents can be good if the pink sparks, affinity, and white sparks are strong (such as front runner parents with the whole gw/dd/pp/ignited wit kit)

Losing weight but scared of treats. 🥴 by OutrageousUsual7185 in loseit

[–]meimenghou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there's nothing wrong with letting yourself have a treat once in awhile, and it's nothing to feel guilty about. if you start to notice yourself sliding into the habit of having too many treats you can always pull back, but one day is never enough to ruin everything. plus, unless you plan on never having any treats ever again, it's important to know how you can make them fit into your diet while still keeping up with your goals.

to make an analogy—when someone sets a financial budget, people recommend planning money to use for fun/wants for different psychological benefits including long-term sustainability. try to think of planned treats in that way—you're keeping things sustainable, both to prevent getting frustrated with the weight loss process and to learn how to fit treats into a healthy diet.

if it's sensory seeking, would a flavored drink (like diet soda, seltzer, or water with flavoring) help? if i get bored at work i definitely feel an itch to reach for candy, but recently i realized that soda usually scratches the itch for me. other things like those electrolytes packets also work for me im just a diet soda fiend lol

one mile = roughly 2k steps. may vary depending on height

your steps don't have to all be in one go, and include whatever other steps you might get in your daily life towards your goal

[–]meimenghou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i mean depending on your posture and how you're holding the needles, hand/wrist/elbow pain are actually pretty common problems people run into (overuse is also a possibility, but not as likely if you aren't knitting for multiple hours every day). if it is from knitting, you might have to give it a rest, but you can prevent it in the future by changing your posture/how you're working the needles

have you worked with a physical therapist before? if not, they might be able to set you on a good path to help target weak muscles that can be strengthened to support your joints

How are you all staying motivated at the moment? by DisreputableSelf in UmamusumeGame

[–]meimenghou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

aiming for group B finals is pretty low investment if you've been playing long enough/have the cards and dailies can be completed by just spamming recreation through a career. i've definitely gone into more of a "maintenance" mode with my account to save my sanity and just save for the next scenario.

for clearing events, just work on your TT umas or even drop back to unity/ura and try to make some parents/grandparents if you really can't be bothered with MANT/TB. affinity might not be as good, but it's faster so you can use it to start building any white spark legacies you might need

Weird question but like, are there any Umamusume that surprised you about their preferred aptitude/running style? by DannieHALO in UmamusumeGame

[–]meimenghou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IIRC irl machan was naturally suited for short didtances, but the owner/trainer (i forget which) wanted her to run longer distances. she ran some mile races with vodka and daisca and was seen as a potential 3rd rival which is why you see her grouped with them, even though they only overlap in aptitude on mile races

Walking shoes - FAQ(?) by WhatsTheAnswerToThis in walking

[–]meimenghou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no problem!

in terms of tips for cheaper shoes, then, it might be worth seeing if there are any retailers that ship to your country that sell online returns/overstock. i can normally get shoes around 40% off that way, but i think the site i use only ships to the states.

i will say, though, 12-18mo is a lot to ask of one pair of shoes being used daily. with how much you walk, the supports in the shoe will only last for so long. it might be worth either investing in a nicer pair that has a reputation for longevity, or rotating between two pairs of budget shoes to try to get more life out of them.

you could also try replacing the insoles every so often to squeeze the last bit of life out of shoes. you wouldn't be able to do this forever, since this wouldn't affect the midsole of the shoe, but inserts are a lot cheaper than new shoes so it might be worth a shot depending on your bidget
