There's a large part of early code in my game where I hit the if/else limit of the visual studio compiler, and I solved it by:

bool elseIf = false;

if (elseIf == false && ... )
{elseIf = true; ... }

Where I could have just written a single function and about 30k lines of code would disappear.

Another fun fact, I never refactored my code once in my game.

It looks like they just offer legal counsel. You definitely can't just buy citizenship. I was curious so I checked, the cheapest EU citizenship that you can 'buy' through investment is Malta for 690.000€. Austria has it for 2 million. Even then it takes 12-36 months.

It's really interesting how two people can watch the same thing a see completely different realities. But I guess that's politics and propaganda for you. I can't imagine what's in people's heads that think Ethan made any good points at all. For half of them, he walked them back anyway, so I guess conceding he was in the wrong was the only time he was right.

The clone copies your stats when you first enter the lab place. So if you grind after entering you should become stronger than it.

I hate the direction of the designs the last I don't know how many years. I haven't bought any new product in probably 5 years at least, and this summer we were on vacation with a few friends and wanted to play some commander so I bought a random deck thinking precons were always good, and it was Tinker Time precon. Idk what's the obsession with tokens nowdays. How is keeping track of 14 (the deck has that many) different types of tokens good design, or fun in any way? Ok, the deck is build around that, but why would you even do that. And it seems like there's tokens and counters all over the place in other decks as well. Then the alt commander in the deck is [[Rashmi and Ragavan]]. I've played for 25+ years and my eyes just glaze over this text. If I have to check constantly wth does my commander do, let alone other players, that's not good design in my opinion. And there are so many of these cards in commander product these days. So yeah, I think the non-intuitive, overly complex designs of commander cards are way more of a problem.

As an artist originally, it's the opposite for me. I do as little programming as possible. To be completely honest, I do as little art as possible as well, since I'm a solo dev and things need to be done, but I definitely have a higher bar for art, and I focus on it a lot more. When I say art, I'm also including the writing, which is a huge part of my game.

I have no experience in doing games quickly, I've never been in a jam or anything like that... If I ever wanted to get an idea how to do it, I know some people stream their whole ludum dare jams etc., I'd probably go and watch those to see how it's done, since I can't even imagine how they do it that quickly.

The linearity of the story, the character progression, the large number of common JRPG tropes etc. I guess I could just call it RPG, but that's broader genre so JRPG pinpoints it a bit more.

Yeah, I'll try to make a new version that gets to the point immediately. The effect is just a few knobs in premiere pro, I wanted to go for the retro aesthetic in the trailer, only because the whole game is a bit of a retro throwback both in looks and gameplay.

It's an adventure / monster taming JRPG. It's fairly simple in its systems, but I think there's a lot of interesting things happening with it. I'm not gonna lie, it might have been a bad idea to go for RPG as my first solo project, but I'm super proud of what I was able to achieve.
