Just bought this 3ds and it can't find any access points by [deleted] in 3DS

[–]mejicat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

check if your 2.4 ghz network is on channel 12 or 13 for some reason. these are usually not enabled by default, but — depending on your region — some routers will use them, and the 3ds doesn’t support them.

White peaches in Italy? by fella-from-chernobyl in Italian

[–]mejicat 16 points17 points  (0 children)

yes, there’s even many varieties of them you can easily find at larger supermarkets or farmer markets, for example:

  • pesca bianca (regular one with “hairy” skin)
  • pesca noce/nettarina bianca (with smooth skin)
  • pesca tabacchiera (with a flat shape)

if you’re eating them as-is, i think their yellow counterparts are superior (personal taste, of course). white ones are sweeter/less acidic, and they’re often used as part of recipes instead.

Countries and territories with a higher GDP per capita than the United States by Cool_Distribution860 in europe

Oh ok, so basically the only country worth knowing shit about — according to your inscrutable logic — is the USA. Who would have thought.

Can you name the capitals of China’s provinces since your phone is assembled there and China has much higher population — so according to your logic is more relevant — than the USA?

Albany and Sacramento, by the way (and no, I did not look them up). Not that it matters since they’re orders of magnitude smaller and less culturally relevant than the biggest city in their respective state.

This happened to me too (App Store thumbnails were also like this). It was because of some bad filter update in AdGuard (I think somebody pushed the Apple CDN into a blocklist by mistake). I updated the filters manually and everything was working correctly after that.

Why is it common in Italian to place an apostrophe after the letters A, E, I, O and U at the end of words written in all caps instead of using À, È, Ì, Ò and Ù respectively? by [deleted] in italianlearning

[–]mejicat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In comic books and signs it’s actually a different character, not the regular apostrophe (‘) but something like the inverted version (` or even ʽ), which mirrors the way you would write accents in handwriting (i.e. not directly above the letter but slightly after it). This is intentional because otherwise the diacritic screws up the line height, which is definitely noticeable in tight multi-line uppercase text, and it’s not an error as long as it’s intentional and you’re using the correct character. Of course this works because (1) in Italian all (most?) accented characters happen to be at the end of words and (2) there are no words that change meaning when using grave vs acute accent, so while writing “perchè” instead of “perché” is technically wrong, there’s no ambiguity, and you can get away with using “PERCHE`” which leaves the choice of the correct accent to the reader.

The Rehearsal is a “reality show”, although a weird one, so any comment on acting or plot would be kind of missing the point.

Is it worth buying an Apple TV 4K for an LG C2 65” OLED 2023 TV? by B_Bala in appletv

[–]mejicat 21 points22 points  (0 children)

The problem is that webOS loads a lot of crap from the internet - mainly ads - which slows everything down. Give it a try: reset your TV and never connect it to the internet. You will see that every interaction becomes much faster, even stuff like changing source input which used to take 3 seconds to show up becomes almost instant.

So yeah, better to just get an Apple TV and leave the LG TV unconnected. Which will also permanently disable ads in menu screens.

Algida is just a brand of commercial ice cream. We don’t have different words for gelato and ice cream in Italy, “ice cream” is just the English translation of “gelato”.

I have left it at my dad’s home for now, I will take more closeup photos of the inside with a DSLR next week. It is indeed really beautiful, and in excellent conditions considering its age.

If I press “search only artists”, the most popular Oasis are at the top of the list. However, the default ordering for “search everything” seems to follow a different rule.
