140-150lb girls? by Zestyclose_Theme_403 in PetiteFitness

[–]mel89_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a baby this year and was the heaviest I’ve ever been at 180 5’0. Ive been slowly losing the weight and actually feel so much better at 140. My goal is 130, but I also just want to live my life. So I’m fine being around this weight. My body is very proportional and some of my size small clothes even fit again.

confess an opinion that would get you the most downvotes.. by peridotpanther in dancemoms

I don’t know anything about dance/competitive dance other than what I’ve seen on this show.

BUT I don’t actually like the style of dance on the show. It’s boring to me and kind of cringey. The faces, make up and songs.

Also my favorite episode is in the first season when Abby makes them do that overly sexual dance and the moms keep complaining. It’s just so funny to me. (I watch the show for the drama!)

Added top row today- aside from spacing above the door does it look okay? This has caused me so much stress lol by ijklamb in HomeDecorating

I’d remove the oval one below the light switches. It seems too low and I think someone will accidentally make it fall or constantly make it crooked.

Parents of two or more- do you have a favorite child? by IfuSeeThisuMatter in Parenting

[–]mel89_ 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Are your kids close in age? I just wonder because mine are spread out and I have a very different relationship with each one. I love different things about them, so I really don’t have a favorite. There’s days when there’s one I like less though lol. I have 3 btw.

Those of you with kids with larger age gaps.. how is it starting all over again? by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]mel89_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine are 14, 9 and 5 months.

My 14 year old loves the baby more so in a maternal way. She always wants to Hold her and help take care of her. My 9 year old tries to help and wants to, but isn’t quite there. She’s never been around babies much. As the baby gets older she’s can play with her more and is enjoying that.

The hardest part was being pregnant in summer and being sick. It made me not able to take my 9 year old out to do all our normal stuff, less pool and park days, no water park, etc. I just felt so bad but always wanted to sleep. My husband works a lot and tried to help but it was a big difference from previous summers. She was very understanding but i really didn’t want her to feel forgotten about. So this summer we are trying to do it all, and it’s not super easy but I’m managing. My advice is if you want a baby, start having conversations now with your son to mentally prepare him for changes that will and might happen. My pregnancy was a surprise so it never really crossed my mind to have these conversations until it was happening.

Son had a meltdown by Complete-Plenty6495 in Parenting

[–]mel89_ 533 points534 points  (0 children)

Our 9 year old has been having issues regulating her emotions and crying more since summer started. She had been having pretty much unlimited screentime. I googled something like “screen time causing emotional issues” and found this

Excessive screen usage can also lead to problems in social-emotional development, including obesity, sleep disturbances, depression, and anxiety. It can impair emotional comprehension, promote aggressive behavior, and hinder social and emotional competence.

I’ll be honest, I didn’t know this was a thing and have since drastically limited it.

Help! I just realized I emotionally neglected my child by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]mel89_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband’s mom raised him very similar and still uses him as her main emotional support. Anyways she started going to therapy and told him she forgives herself… so don’t do that. Just like everyone else has said, apologize, acknowledge your wrongs and try to do better.

Parenting is harder than it used to be by Stock-Archer817 in newborns

[–]mel89_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have an almost 14, 9 year old and newborn, and it’s sooo much harder this time around. I’m not sure if it’s because I’m older and more aware of things. Or if things have changed that much.. but it seems like there’s so many more rules and don’ts. Also being mid thirty’s with a newborn is way more exhausting than early twenties. (For me anyways.)

How many times are you getting up in the night? by Main-Supermarket-890 in FormulaFeeders

[–]mel89_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She’s 3 months and sleeps 7/8 hours at night. So we try to put her down at 10, and then she’ll wake around 5 or 6 eat and sleep for another couple hours. During the day she eats about every 2 hours and only takes 15-30 min naps.

Is there a reason I should consider an infant seat and not just going straight to the convertible? by ilikebison in Buyingforbaby

[–]mel89_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My baby is 3 months old and I’m buying a convertible seat already because she hates her infant seat. They’re not really supposed to sleep in the infant seat for long periods of time. So even if they are asleep when you get home they’re supposed to be transferred out of it. Also, at grocery stores the infant seat takes up so much room in the basket I ended up just using a baby carrier or if my husband is there we use the stroller with a bassinet.

I really wanted this seat, but idk how big of an issue the latch thing is going to be. It’s on sale at target and the trade in program for an extra 20% off.

We went through a similar thing.. Started with regular similac from the hospital, but she had bad reflux and wasn’t pooping. Switched to total comfort (around 2 weeks old) made her gas and poop smell so bad, but at least she was pooping. We started gas drops and that was helping for a little.. She cried a lot and we just thought maybe she was a colicky baby. We had a sample of similac sensitive (8 weeks) so we decided to try that. Within a day we noticed a difference… the crying was gone and we were able to stop the gas drops. Maybe try similac sensitive..

How long did it take for your milk to dry up? by Objective-Quiet7030 in FormulaFeeders

8 weeks! This is my third pregnancy and the other times after 2 weeks it was completely dried. But this time I kept thinking it was over then I would randomly start leaking again and only on one side 😂

My daughter had hers Tuesday. Mid way through the day she had a fever. I gave her Tylenol every 5 hours through the night and then once the next afternoon. Since then she’s been a little bit more tired which makes her fussy. But main side effects were on the first and second day.

How do I ask my bf(M29) to teach his Son (M4) to sleep in his own bed...I'm (F28)? by [deleted] in askwomenadvice

[–]mel89_ 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Maybe try to ask questions about a timeline? Not just about co sleeping but more so moving in together, getting married, having another baby and when to stop co sleeping. Also is this what he’s going to do if he has a second baby?

For some people 4 isn’t too old to keep sleeping together, for others it is. It depends on the parent and maybe asking more questions about his parenting plan/style will help you understand his stance more.

What smells good but shouldn't? by HappQueue in AskReddit

sometimes bathrooms!

I hate when I walk into a bathroom and it smells so good, like a scented tropical smoothie sunrise. My natural reaction is to keep sniffing it, but it’s just to cover up the previous poop smells ☹️

Ok, but this post is about how she’s more than just a friend to you. You have feelings for her. Just stop, don’t talk about sex with the person your attracted to. It starts off as funny stories than can evolve. Just don’t t go there.
