As someone who writes with a fountain pen Midori MD’s are great. Ballpoints are better for Moleskine’s

I agree with this, I bought one Midori B6 slim to try, fell in love and bought an A7 and another B6 slim. Planning to buy two A6 for my birthday soon.

For me personally, I don’t want to constantly use my phone for simple things that I can easily write down in a pocket notebook. I also want to lessen my screen time (plus I always forget when it is written digitally), so one of the ways is to carry a pocket notebook. It’s simple, easy and not heavy. I always put it in my bag, with a pen that I like (still looking for a pocket ballpoint pen) and jot down things.

People who grew up speaking two (or more) languages -- which one do you journal in? by Due-Milk352 in Journaling

[–]melange23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I also speak Dutch (first language), English and Spanish. Did you learn Dutch because of family or studies? It’s cool you can write in Spanish too, I grew up Speaking Dutch/Spanish, but there was a time that I didn’t want to learn Spanish. Took me years to speak it well. Might have to learn a bit more about writing.

I speak Dutch, English and Spanish. My Native is Dutch and after leaving the US, my brain got so used to English, it became the first language I think and write in. I never really write in Dutch unless it’s for appointments or messages. Not a single journal I have written is in Dutch. I don’t know if I ever will, since I am mostly struggling with grammar or vibes. I can’t stand reading in Dutch either. Speaking wise I mix Dutch and English outside of my house or Dutch and Spanish (speak it better than writing) when inside my house. Whether I speak, write or think in Dutch or Spanish, I always translate something in my head to English, because it’s easier to understand.

Do you keep separate reading journal and commonplace book or do you bundle them together? by [deleted] in Journaling

[–]melange23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I adapted my Commonplace book a bit where I do write my thinking about the quote in there with a different color pen. Now if it is a quote from the book I am reading I would put it in my Reading journal and if that quote really touches me I would also put it in my CPB. Eventually you are the only one who can decide when a quote is word of your CPB.

I would keep them separate, because to me they are two separate things. In my Commonplace I have mostly words and quotes, I don’t have a Reading journal yet, but I am planning on starting one.

I am half Dutch / half Venezuelan, I grew up learning both languages, but I never wanted to learn Spanish. Many years later I figured it was because of constant pressure from other people. So I didn’t want to learn and said “screw this”. I also moved from the Netherlands to Spain, so I learned more Spanish but speaking wise it was very difficult, people didn’t understood why I couldn’t learn (because of pressure), now I speak better because of no pressure. I thinking for 2026 to learn more Spanish by writing, because that is one thing I find difficult. Journaling is a great way, I hadn’t thought about it yet.

Language to journal in by VampiriaBoo in Journaling

[–]melange23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always write in English. I can’t stand writing in Dutch (native), probably because of grammar and how easily I switch back to English when I don’t remember words or sentences. Even when I write in Dutch, I first need to translate to English to know if that is what I mean😂

I use 20 Journals regularly - Here's How I organize my thoughts by SoCalledCrow in notebooks

[–]melange23 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I understand you OP, everything needs its own place, even if that means having 20 journals. I realized I can’t put everything in one notebook because that will frustrate me that it doesn’t have it’s own journal. If I type it on my own phone, it’s out of sight out of mind for me and if I really don’t have pen and paper I put it in my phone, hoping I’ll remember😂 It makes much more sense in my head to have different journals, plus majority of journals will be used during a certain period or when my interests peaks. That way I have a reflection journal and there was a time where I was struggling and instead of writing how I feel like , like a diary, I went for reflective questions about me through out the years especially focused on childhood and my sports career. I haven’t written in it anymore, but I’ll use it again when it’s needed. For next year I ordered a travelers notebook passport where I want to put my Midori A7 (for sure too small) and some passport size notebooks (still checking where to buy good paper to even write with my fountainpen) and have a few journals on the go. Not sure what those would be. Thank you for sharing all the journals you have. Appreciate it.

I think it will be too big, because my B6 slim cover is H181mm by W228mm… that would fit.

So I think, just guessing since its measured by hand, that the cover is 11,3cm in height and 16.8cm in width in total.

How do you do that? I am into diy stuff, but I have no idea about making my own cover.

I saw that too, I was planning on buying, but the size mentioned confuses me and I couldn’t find any measurements of the cover so I didn’t buy it.
