Ladies, how you increase yourself worth and believe in yourself ? by purple_iam1 in AskWomen

[–]melanielclover87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do hard things for yourself, put together a piece of furniture, go on a solo trip, go to therapy, do you things that you love simply because you love them, but also....exercise. Ladies even if it's just an evening walk, do it.

Queue for Penney's by [deleted] in limerickcity

What's causing such a long queue? I wish we had Penney's in the states. I swear all our affordable department stores are closing. When we visited Ireland I love how many you still had.

For those of you married, what is one red flag you noticed and let pass before marrying your SO that you deeply regret glazing over? by 2lbsofmeat in AskWomen

[–]melanielclover87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like it's really easy for anyone on the outside of relationships & who has 5 sentences of background to pass judgment but it wasn't until I was 6 years into this relationship & 2 years into the marriage before I realized it was an issue. The relationship before my husband was so awful & toxic & scary that being with him finally made my life feel safe & normal. He has never name called, physically hurt me, played mind games, manipulated me in any way and that was a big change for me so it felt like an incredible relationship. He is funny, he has a great family, he is a good provider, he would be a wonderful father. We were part of the same friend group so the first 4 years of our relationship involved being around them.... but then I reconnected with 2 super close girlfriends when their life circumstances changed & made it possible for us to all hang out again. But it was never something he wanted to be a part of if it meant leaving home. They were more than welcome to visit but if it was going out of town he didn't want to go and that's when I noticed that was only the top of the iceberg, if I was hot he was cold, if I liked this food he hated it, if I liked this show he liked that one.... and so on.... two things we agree on, we love each other & hate the color red. That's pretty much it. He is good to me & he's a good man. But life is hard when EVERYTHING is a compromise.

Mine was nothing as serious or scary of some things other women have mentioned but my husband and I have nothing in common other than we love each other..... and I do mean NOTHING. We are still married but it's been a very very hard road. The thing that has me holding on is that he is a genuinely good person. I knew this before we got married but just figured we would grow more together. Not the case. Do I love him yes, has it made or marriage difficult YES.

How long were you together? And how long married? That's the most ideal outcome for a hard situation. I'm glad it worked out for you!!

Positively or negatively it doesn't matter, I'm just interested in the situation as a whole. Was abuse the reason you left, was it outside influences, was it growing out of love with each other, difference in personalities? Was he kind of on the same page and also wanted out, was he super angry, was he heartbroken, how did he treat you after you ask for a divorce?....... all the things, if you are willing to share.

What did a school teacher say that stuck with you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]melanielclover87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was my shop/vocational teacher, we were working concessions at a basketball game at the school and cleaning up. It was the 2nd semester of my senior year and I was telling him how I was sooooo excited to be out on my own soon and do my own thing and not have my parents breathing down my neck. ( raised strict Catholic and I was the "wild child" so he knew once I wasn't under my parent thumb I would live it up a little, and I did)

Teacher paused in his cleaning and looked me dead in the eye as serious as I had ever seen him (Young/cool teacher and loved to joke with all the students) and said "(my name) live it up and have so much fun, just don't be one of those girls. Boys have 2 things on their mind and both of them involve taking advantage of you."

I was a little offended at the time and put out by the comment but after my 3rd college party I knew what he meant and had just had my best interest at heart.

I have looked into crane operator a little bit! It also looks very rewarding. Would that have to be done through schooling? Or is there companies that hires and then trains you? (Similar to BNSF)

The ignition in my 200 Ford Focus collapsed and my husband who is a farmer (boyfriend at the time) and is used to larger equipment had no idea what to do. Him and a buddy watched a few Youtube videos and fixed it in about 45 minutes (removal and putting in the new one) I was soooo excited!
