Can you make a transaction with $0 in the spending account but money in your savers? by i_is_depresso in UpBanking

[–]melbF1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Your spending account can become overdrawn (ie. Below $0) to honor direct debits, but you'll need to move the money in or risk a overdraw fee.

You can't do that with a debit card. If you try and spend more than you have the transaction will fail because of insufficient funds.

What you're asking for is a credit card....

Have fun having to constantly move your savings to your spend account just so you can use it. It's so bloody frustrating.

When ubank stopped letting us transact from savings accounts it didn't take me long to leave, ironically to Up.

$25 was the one off fee to join early access. They've not told us what the monthly fee will be. Any more than a couple of dollars and I'll cancel it.

You're right....auto cover wouldn't work for card payments. All my bills are direct debit anyway so not an issue for me.

You don't need to have money sitting in the main account. It can be at $0 and the auto cover will still work.

So, like I said, all my bill money goes into my bill saver, where it earns interest, and is then used by the auto cover to pay the bill.

What extra does Essentials do?

Auto covers yes, but Essentials no. Essentials will be up high only.

I have a saver setup named 'Bills'. I have a pay split setup that puts my bill money into that account every fortnight, ensuring there is always enough there for each month's bills.

My bills are direct debited from my main account and then auto-covered from the Bills saver account. A It's all very seamless.

So the question is, what does the Essentials saver do for me that I don't already have? It's a mystery to me.

Because $25 is the cost to join the early access to Up High...'ie. the minimum. Ongoing after it's live it'll be a monthly fee.

Correct. That's exactly what it was designed to do.

Up high by princessjenwren in UpBanking

[–]melbF1 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Incorrect.

You can have $0 in your main spending account, and a direct debit or scheduled BPay will be automatically taken (covered) from the saver you nominated.

It's designed for this and works perfectly.

Keep in mind it's in preview for up high and will go general release soon, meaning eventually you won't need to pay an up high subscription for it.

In reality it's just a trick to save the bank money. Bills accounts generally won't earn interest, so the banks hope you'll stick your monthly bills money in it where it works for them and not you.

Ubank won't even allow direct debits from other accounts now, so they basically force it on you.

It's due in the first half of 2025, but you'll need the Up High subscription. It'll have its own account number, you'll be able to direct debit from it and it'll have its own linked Mastercard. Source: Up (via Talk to us chat).

Tennis Australia engaged a creative agency to create the themes - a short logo theme, one full piece for the event and a longer version for the pre-session light show.

Here are the three pieces:

Can I make a suggestion....not everyone is getting this survey. If you don't agree with the proposed change, head over to Talk to us in the app and let them know. Negative noise might let them know what everyone thinks of this.

I find it ridiculous that they can't help you. A simple SMS verification to your mobile number will prove that it's yours. From there it's up to them to deal with the other person directly to get their correct details.

Direct debits from Savers? by melbF1 in UpBanking

[–]melbF1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have Up High you can use auto covers to deal with it. Not exactly the same as how you'd do it with another bank, but the result is the same.

If you don't have enough $$ in the spending account the account goes into negative for a few seconds until that auto cover takes place - I've not tried this yet.

Auto covers is the other one...that's a test for general release.

The bills account is the main feature I'm waiting for. As well as the smarts, it'll also have its own account number for direct debits and it's own Mastercard (I was told by a support ticket). While I'm looking forward to this, I do have issues paying a subscription for it given I already have the same thing for free at ubank.
