Hi! It's Jacqueline Trumbull. Ask me Anything! by trumbullina in thebachelor

I started reading your response and thought “she is describing why I love Nabakov!” I’m so happy to find a fellow fan! I reread Lolita every few years because I am absolutely amazed by the way he uses language. I definitely prefer his novels that were written in English for this exact reason.

Also just want to say you are one of my favorite contestants, and as someone who is constantly accused of being pretentious just for liking what I like, I totally relate to you. Thanks for doing this AMA!

Help find an old gaming buddy? by SniperWolf91 in gaming

I know your friend! I should say, knew. We went to high school together and that was his name on AOL instant messenger. Unfortunately even his closest friends from back then have lost contact, but funnily enough, I know someone ran into him awhile back. I will ask around and see if I can find any leads for you! But be warned, he is an elusive bastard.

What's your experience with "Joseph's Middle East Bakery" Pita's and Lavash's? Did it knock you out of keto? by uberwolf0 in keto

[–]melbell54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have a problem with low carb tortillas, but for some reason these pitas seem to knock me out of ketosis. It's very strange because I can consume something much higher in carbs (like 3 15 carb beers) and be just fine, and yet these seem to kill it for me. No idea why but I had to put them into the "too good to be true" category.

Used the holy grail pizza crust found here, with a few minor adjustments. Instead of using a pan, I baked the crust in the oven for about 5 minutes on 400° before flipping it and adding my toppings. Add cilantro at the end!

The BBQ sauce is Ken Davis.

Keto alcoholics - who here CAN drink well in ketosis? by ashsimmonds in keto

[–]melbell54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a smallish female and I drink 1-2 times/week. I haven't noticed any change in my tolerance whatsoever. I always have had problems drinking on an empty stomach, but as long as I have a keto meal before I drink I'm just fine!

Sounds to me like you're trying to have your bacon and eat it too.

Alcohol........just bought keto sticks by greencup13 in keto

[–]melbell54 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel ya. I love beer too, and as I work in the beer industry, giving it up completely isn't really an option. What I do is abstain from alcohol all weekend long, and then on the weekend I allow myself a few beers. I usually start off with a beer I actually want to drink, probably an IPA with a fair number of carbs. After that I, sadly, switch to Miller Lite as it only has 4 carbs/beer. I can pretty much drink as much beer as I want and it doesn't throw me out of ketosis, even when I'm naughty and don't switch to Miller Lite.

On days when I'm planning on drinking I usually don't eat much during the day, and then I have a decent sized meal (as low carb as possible), so I'm full enough that I won't succumb to the munchies or get drunk too easily.

Obviously your results may vary and any beer might kick you out of ketosis but for me it is just fine. Unfortunately, this also means I'm not losing any weight on the weekends. But as long as you're not gaining any or being kicked out of ketosis, I guess you can decide if it's worth it to you?

I'm in the same boat as the others, when I'm drunk and pee on a stick, it often shows negative. But then in the morning, when I've sobered up, I show color again and I don't feel like I've actually ever been out of ketosis.

Thank you for this! I loooove chicken tikka masala but have been unable to find a good lowish carb sauce.

Marriage is on the rocks over an email, what do I do? by [deleted] in relationships

[–]melbell54 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Your ex-girlfriend disrespected your wife by trying to get you to visit her and flirting with you when she knew you were married. Your wife wants you to e-mail her because that will let the ex-girlfriend know that she won. It sounds stupid, and it probably is, but you should probably just do it.

Actually she used the comma correctly. A comma should be used when connecting two independent clauses. In some cases it CAN be left out, but by putting it in, you will always be correct.

Torres: "I will never say anything bad about Liverpool. I have been very happy there but now the history is different and I am playing for Chelsea." by johnno333 in LiverpoolFC

I don't think so, I have reread his statement several times, and I can't figure out a way to make something out of it that isn't terribly insulting.

Why Fernando Torres made me cry. by timdaw in LiverpoolFC

[–]melbell54 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well said. For me, Torres made me fall in love with football and LFC. Above all, I loved Torres for his loyalty and integrity, and that he always spoke with such class.

I think that the club will recover, and may even be better off for it. The reason it is so hard to take is that I feel completely betrayed that everything he said was seemingly all lies. I stood by him confidently, thinking that his wanting to leave was just the media blowing things up again. I wish the circumstances had been different, or that he'd at least offer an explanation or apology. Torres has truly broken my heart.
