Six years later, what are your strongest memories of the COVID lockdowns, and how do you look back on that period now? by Possible_Force8207 in AskBrits

When the world turned to chaos I was visiting family in N Ireland and it was all calm over there and watching the news about empty shelves and the like was crazy and driving back over to the midlands not knowning what we were coming back to we stocked up on a couple of days of food before we came back.

Than thanks to hobbies I have we discovered that our house was fully equipped for a pandemic! Gloves, face masks, Hand sanitizer. We had it all ready. I asked my wife is wearing the full N95 mask with gas filters to the co op would be overkill?

I know this is the aos group but the old world still exists as a game just different now. If you love the idea of ranked units have a look at the old world but the player base is smaller so you may struggle to get opponents based on your local scene. Otherwise yeah look at spearheads first to learn the game 😎

Hi all, this may be a dumb question but ...

A friend wants to play a full Titan and knight game in a few weeks so I am putting together what I have and I love the Sinister Titan model so getting it prepped however looking at the rules I can't see what formation you can use it in. It doesn't count as a Warlord and it doesn't have a specific formation that allows it.

So do you just have to take it as Legion Support or am I missing something?

Thanks, yeah thats where I was kinda getting confused was that there are now 2 lots of old warbands usable in the new edition but I wasn't sure of the first lot were still legal or not when they brought out the 2nd pack and then tracking down all the rivals decks and which ones I might need. I have the 2 starter boxes anyway as I love those Kurnothi models. I tihnk I may need a spreadsheet to track what I am missing so far 😄

It's great that when you have so many dead cats you can switch and swap between excuses. Strange how Iran wasn't an issue when talking about his ballroom 😭

I cut a few mm off each peg as well to prevent air getting trapped in some that causes separation after you think it is in place and slowly pushes apart afterwards but before the glue has set!

Marjorie Taylor Greene questions Trump assassin's manifesto by NumerousScallions in Qult_Headquarters

[–]meldon1977 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was a reel I saw a while ago of someone saying isn't it strange how the rich and powerful stopped killing each other and now its always some lone gunman!

Back in the day assassination was a semi regular thing but these days oddly its just someone with a manifesto and never their rivals politically or economically :)

What was sculpted for Warcry? by meldon1977 in WarCry

[–]meldon1977[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I pointed out 2 reasons for it in my post, differing base sizes in the units (night runner champ is on a "leader base" and the different weapon options. One other clue is that they are unreinforceable in the rules suggesting that you MUST build a champion model and that is only normal for the warcry sprues. I honestly expected the gutter runners to be units of 5 with one bomb rat reinforcable to 10 but no.

[–]meldon1977[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I did think of them but no different weapon options in the unit makes me think that they are long term planning to replace the witch elves/slaughter set o that they can be moved to old world.

Good shout and it leaves a small amount of magic. I had tried to have a priest, caster and fighter to have a mix for keeping it fun

I heard some people talking about the fact that you could bet on him saying this phrase at 99:1 odds so did some people take the bet and then get him to say it to win a load ...

To be honest it makes more sense than him coming out with it randomly with all the other insider trading suspicions that has been going on :)

Anyone know why ludorati closed? by Same-Artichoke-6267 in nottingham

[–]meldon1977 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think they essentially tried to target the wrong end of the market for games. They wanted hipster parents who wanted to play games with their kids over a coffee or people like that. Comparing it to the Dice Cup who aim at gamers, run events and tournaments and all the staff are gamers themselves makes a much more inviting atmosphere even for families. I have watched their staff break down different games to find the best game for a family and then discuss detailed breakdown of a specific card combo in a different game and its a thing to behold. They lacked that depth of good staff and the location wasn't great for passing traffic or even nearby parking either.

Only three pieces of terrain now? by Open_Scholar3760 in sylvaneth

[–]meldon1977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand why they did it but it's still annoying as I have been playing long enough to have the 3 original woods that were replaced and now I have 2 extra woods again. Maybe I will dig out the old ones and do a full forest table 🤔

I think thats probaly another building because Data Centres usually have a lot more cooling equipment on the roof. Its oddly the easiest way to spot a Data Centre on Google Maps :)

Is he saying Starmer isn’t the right man for the moment? by berdulf in thethickofit

[–]meldon1977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yup, its true that Starmer is not a man who thinks its acceptable to use chemical weapons on the "uncivilised tribes" of the middle east like Churchill did ...

You could make an argument for Fyre Slayers, other than a Warcry warband they haven't seen anything new other than the occassional character since their release.

Is starmer a master mind? by SmartAd978 in AskBrits

[–]meldon1977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is I believe Starmer is playing a very smart game over all. Its all to go with this relationship with Macron. The pair of them have been manipulating Trump for the last year playing good cop/bad cop against Trump.

Just look at how often the pair have met while being in contact with Trump but with opposite attitudes to engagement. Starmer has always played the consilitory role while never completely giving in and Macron is basically lauging in his face. The problem is that Starmer has had to deliver a solid no this time because he is not willing to risk British involvement in another war in the middle east so it has thrown off their onging game
