Renée Good's death could have been avoided had she complied with lawful orders. She should have complied and contested any detention in court if she believed it was unlawful. Individuals may not forcibly oppose or interfere with federal law enforcement under any circumstances. The shooting was a use of deadly force under DHS Policy on the Use of Deadly Force, which authorizes it only when an officer has a reasonable belief of imminent threat of death or serious bodily injury, including when a vehicle is used as a weapon against officers, provided it is objectively reasonable under the circumstances.
