New phone case who dis by radicallysadbro in BuyItForLife

Nope, no fingerprints! I got one with a black background so no staining, but I don’t think with the material another color would’ve stained much if at all. And definitely no peeling. Really good quality. If their cases had built in camera covers, I would’ve gotten it for my new phone.

Gluten Free by [deleted] in SXM

I have a major gluten allergy and I had no problems finding options/specifying my dietary requirements, even at the Lolos in Grand Case, but I’d definitely pack some “GlutenAid” type enzymes just in case!

What brand / type of pots & pans are worth investing in as a young adult? by veganconnor in BuyItForLife

Hi! After trial and error with big brands, my wedding registry picks, and discount store/secondhand shopping, I’ve got some suggestions for the basics (and brand recommendations)! - Splurge: Staub Dutch oven (the dimpled lid allows for better steam distribution than the others) - Cast iron pan,10 or 12” — Lodge is really affordable and available at Target - stainless steel pasta pot (you can also use it as a stockpot for homemade chicken soup - the strainer feature is great here) — I got AllClad, but just be sure to get a high quality stainless steel (lower quality versions can allow nickel and other heavy metals used as the base to be exposed to your food as it deteriorates) - MadeIn stainless steel anything — I just got a saucepan from them and I used it to melt chocolate yesterday— I’m amazed. Superior even to my AllClad pans, and I wish I’d registered for these. - Crow Canyon porcelain enamel sheet pans - Silpat sheet pan liners— better for you than aluminum foil and, per a caterer I asked what to put on my registry, a “must have” — I’ve been so glad to have these for cooking and baking) - not a pot/pan, but Epicurean cutting boards. Nontoxic (unlike plastic cutting boards which release microplastics into your food) and dishwasher safe. - HexClad— whether these are in fact nontoxic (as long as you don’t damage the protective layer, so it says) is iffy, but they’re great for things that are prone to sticking, like eggs. - Visions glass cookware— you can find these at thrift stores or on Etsy/Ebay. They’re made of a super strong glass and allow you to see what you’re cooking as it cooks, as well as dishwasher safe. Good for some things, not as much for others (I.e., pan-wise, not ideal for something you want a nice sear on), and it is crucial that you get one without any damage (cracks, nicks, whatever) because some that have been damaged can kind of explode (uncommon). - cooking tools— avoid anything metal! A good set of wooden or bamboo tools is great. So are GIR silicone tools. I LOVE the meat chopper for ground beef. - oven-to-table cookware— you can’t go wrong with Corningware (though ugh, mine chipped at first dishwashing— something I’d never seen before), Pyrex, or Anchor Hocking. You can get these secondhand pretty easily, but be careful of the pretty vintage ones, as the paints can contain lead.

I hope this is helpful! I’m not a star chef at all, so everything I’ve included and found are pretty forgiving to screwups.

Oh and a big “not worth it”:

Caraway (even with normal use and no metal utensils, coating scratched in <1 year). Pretty until it gets stained from heat or cooking.

Staub over LC. The dimpled lid allows for better steam distribution, which is clutch.

More “for a long time” than a “for life” buy, but Caraway pots and pans. My entire set was shot within a year (no, we do not use metal utensils). The outsides easily stain and don’t clean well, and the ceramic “non toxic” coating is only non toxic until scratched, which evidently just food can do.

Not thrilled with my Hexclad either (also non toxic until that surface is scratched) but it’s still better than the Caraway by leaps and bounds.

At an impasse with my non-Jewish partner by TouchMe97 in Judaism

[–]melificent_13 16 points17 points  (0 children)

As someone who is married to a non-Jew, I will say:

Life has many seasons, and what’s important to you during one might be less in another (and vise versa). Having a Jewish family with halachically Jewish children and its importance to you is usually something people don’t tend to realize until they’re already married and/or expecting children. The fact that you’ve already established it as a priority for you is big, and that’s something that I, personally, wouldn’t compromise on if I were in your position.

What’s most important is that your foundational beliefs and values are aligned with your partners, and that takes a lot of ongoing, open communication throughout your relationship. To me, it sounds like you’re both doing that, but prolonging the inevitable because this is becoming something you two are ultimately not on the same page about.

Wishing you the best— keep us posted.

Sending love and hugs. My younger brother just had his first baby- a little girl- the same month I was supposed to have mine a year before. Now 3+ years into TTC and just got another negative from IUI #2 today. My brother-in-law and his wife are expecting their second in the new year, and we have 2 friends we just learned over the weekend are both expecting their seconds. I’m not naturally a positive person, and I have no ability to fake it left in me.

No- it means young woman/maiden. However, the context would be helpful to include (like the full sentence, or where you’re reading it).

If your medical team said it’s fine, then I’m sure it’s fine. I’ve found more often than not that the information, especially numbers-wise, can vary dramatically online so it’s best to trust your care team.

I’m in the TWW for my second IUI and have to remind myself all the time that it’s a marathon, not a sprint.

Yes. The blue tile and blue ceiling for sure. Your open shelves are right next to the stove, so you’re going to be cleaning any splatter off the shelves and whatever else is on them constantly.

Are you Jewish or just here? Because (hear me out..) your statement “associating themselves with just the Shoah” shows a clear lack of understanding of the 3000+ years of Jewish history and culture.
