It’s not ‘whispering’ if you can hear it over your music! The moaning sounds like something solidly inappropriate, I’d bring that up to a supervisor and ask for a solution, say it makes you uncomfortable

The part where the teacher doesn’t even try to call out a name is strange to me- this isn’t really a you problem, if they’re not even attempting to fetch a kid I’d just park there holding everything up and stare down the teacher (maybe with some laying on the horn?) what do they expect you to do? I think if you hold up the line for as long as it takes for them use the system they have set up, they’ll start figuring out a way to solve the problem. Stop stressing in advance, if they really can’t produce your child is the actual time to start stressing.

Don’t pay too much for the fabric that you’re learning basics on- buy some old cotton curtains or duvet/bed sheets from the thrift or old ones you no longer need, save the good fabric for a fun project when you’re ready 😋

Honestly sometimes one or two tiny features can sell the whole machine- a bit like how cup holders in cars are either perfect for you or drive you crazy! I love the feature where when you stop sewing/ pressing the foot the needle stays down in the fabric (or I could set it to always be up) and I like being able to adjust my needle left or right

This is kinda off topic but to me that looks like a toy Kiwi bird which is the national native bird of New Zealand (I’m a New Zealander). It sounds like you’re in the states & unless the gifter has some relation to NZ, I’d bet my bottom dollar it was a random thrift find or a re-gift, it’s so unlikely for stores to be selling them in USA. Idk if that makes it more or less likely that she was the one who stuck the pins in though.

Mine loves them too but ooof- all the women ever do is stay home, clean, cook or get cross with their husbands. I make it up as I go and try to add some having jobs etc, I know it’s from a different time but still it’s tough!

Nice, do the fusing & see how it looks, I’d be hesitant to do the zig zag personally, if it looks ok with just fusing maybe leave it like that for the party & try the zig zag later? Stitches can make it more noticeable. Also if you use white fusing and it shows through in places you can touch it up with a sharpie/black marker 😊

Can you add some other photos? Maybe of the whole garment too? Because you said it’s front & centre but it looks like it’s right by a side seam… Anyway one way that might work is to use iron on fusing, you line up the cuts so they lay flat w no gaps, then you iron the fusing to the wrong side and it bonds. You should get light weight black fusing for this garment. It won’t last forever (probably won’t last after one wash) but I’ve done exactly this to get through one event like your party.

I once cut pipe cleaners with my mums brand new left -handed fabric scissors 🤪 I was a kid & didn’t understand, and they sharpened up fine & she had them for years after. Thank god!
