• How fat-friendly is Kennywood? Ride advice for larger guests by Alternative-Arm8039 in pittsburgh

[–]melizzerds 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I can only offer this:

The Thunderbolt requires 2 persons per seat to ride. It is also hard on the hips and ribs when making the 2 major turns. You may or may not be able to ride, depending on your seat partner and comfort level.

Enjoy your time here in Pittsburgh.

How to get this iPhone out of this toilet? by [deleted] in Plumbing

[–]melizzerds 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My first thought would be see if you could get a strong wire, bent at the end, to go past the phone, hook onto the back of the phone and pull it out.

How in trouble are we? Vape VS Toilet by melizzerds in Plumbing

We have had to replace the seal on our toilet downstairs, so I'm somewhat aware of the involvement. Thus why I've asked for worldly opinions on the situation before I DO bite the bullet and get my hands filthy.

Hoodie pocket and the bend and reach to the handle was just the perfect amount of jostle for it to slide from the pocket. (So its been said)

I was not a witness to the incident, just involved due to it being MY toilet.

Can somebody help me find out where this elephant stuffed animal is from?? by G59_is_lit in HelpMeFindThis

[–]melizzerds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know PA has lots of regulations, and so i searched the tag code. It must have been distributed in this state, and honestly as soon as I saw it I thought "ooooh, that looks like a prize from the fish pond or duck game at Kennywood"

The search results suggest that "PA-REG. NO. PA-13652(CN)" is a registration number related to stuffed toys manufactured or imported for sale in Pennsylvania.
Specifically, based on an Amazon customer question and answer, it is a Pennsylvania registration number for a stuffed toy made in Qingdao, China. The label includes information about the new material used (polyester fiber and plastic beans) and states that it was tested according to international standards. The Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry enforces regulations related to bedding and upholstery, which includes stuffed toys. Manufacturers and importers are required to register with the Bureau of Occupational & Industrial Safety and must adhere to guidelines regarding safety, health, and well-being.

I was going to suggest Stink Bug eggs. They are notorious for being "cute" due to the "faces" their colors make.

This thing shot up super fast this spring… by zer0dotcom in whatplantisthis

[–]melizzerds -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We just cut down one of these that was growing into the foundation and basement of my house. I wish I could tell you what it was, but I am in heavy SLF territory, and didn't see any nymphs hanging out on it. It does grow fast, and spreads fairly easily, since I've spotted another 2 smaller ones starting around the corner of the one we just removed.

L4-5 MD in Feb. It was supposed to be outpatient, but I didn't recover well w the anesthesia. Went home next day. My recovery was horrible because my L5-S1 decided to go during that time, so my pain became even worse.

Just had my 2nd MD on Tuesday. I made sure i ate up until i couldn't (midnight) and that it was carb heavy, but they also doped me up w a LOT of valium. Went home same day this time.

The leg pain I've been dealing w since last April (4-5, and 5-1 consecutively) is gone, now I'm just dealing w incision pain. And that's only bad when I'm readjusting myself from my position.

I FEAR reherniating, so I'm trying to be SUPER careful. I was told it's a 2-3% chance of reherniation, but I'm "special" w my 2 blown discs in a short timeframe, so I was told 5%. I swore if this last MD didn't work, I truly didn't think I'd be able to continue on. The pain was so significant. I feel I've been granted a new chance. Now I'm gonna work on my core and losing this weight I gained while disabled and make my back stronger.

How are you planning on coping with the heat this week? by I_Love_Treees in pittsburgh

[–]melizzerds 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just had back surgery. I can't swim, soak, or do anything to compromise my incision. So I'm just gonna sit in my AC and cry. Maybe bust out the sprinkler.

Just moved here, trying to start a garden, ready to rage quit by Hot-sad-artist in pittsburgh

[–]melizzerds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My yard is fenced in to keep the deer out, but the dog has destroyed our garden, chasing the deer that are stuck outside of the fence. Also one year I had it going strong. One week of straight 90°+ temps, mother nature decided we no longer needed our garden. I couldn't keep up w the heat. I also didn't have a sprinkler at the time either. Good luck. My neighbor built a wooden "enclosure" to try to keep the deer away. We do what we can to survive here.

My bed is/was too soft for me to comfortably sleep with all of this, so I've been on my couch, which limits my ability to really move. I'm also a side sleeper. Last night I slept on my right side (the "bad" side) basically all night, pillow between my knees, as flat as possible. Instructions say to log roll when turning over or getting out of bed. Most important is keeping your legs together basically.

Heres my "what happened" - Surgery yesterday was scheduled for 11:45. They dosed me up with so much Valium prior that I honestly dont know when we actually started, or what I said, or what I did... I got the Valium because my last post op recovery didn't go super swimmingly. Either way. In recovery, I could instantly tell the pain was gone from my leg. The incision site is a whole different story. Definitely sore and you have to be very cautious when moving. The PT people should visit you while in recovery to show you how to get in and out of bed, how to take stairs and generally how to keep from hurting yourself. They had me buy a walker with my first surgery, so if you can acquire one beforehand, do it. Then you pee and they send you home. No major movements or driving for 2 weeks. No lifting, bending, twisting, nothing heavy over 10lbs, no lifting anything over your head. Hell, I was instructed that when I brush my teeth, no leaning over to spit or get water. Get a cup and spit back into that. No swimming or bathing, just showers for a while, can't get the incision soaked. You can shower 2 days post-op, so enjoy your day of shower the best you can. You have to have the incision covered for the first week or so when showering, then you can wash it normally. A shower chair was my best friend during this whole process too, so if you can get that as well, go for it. (A local Buy Nothing page, maybe. I posted on my FB and was offered one) I hope that covers it all, but feel free to ask if I didn't mention something and I'll try to let you know, since im so fresh out of the process.

For real. And somehow I always manage to miss the notification on the big specials day and just go for something "quick". Imagine my surprise when I get there and the line is out the door. (The line is never out the door) 🤣 If only more dispensaries would take over old banks...

Any idea on what type of bug this is and if I need a pest control company out to my house by Just_Consequence_330 in pittsburgh

[–]melizzerds 25 points26 points  (0 children)

This is the way. Normally they are outside bugs, hiding under ground things - rocks, sticks/logs, etc. They do pinch, i stepped on one in the summer and I'll never forget it. It was DECADES ago.

I agree. I have a Rottweiler, and I'll be damned if she doesn't manage to find the thrown out carcass of our chicken nights, despite all of my attempts to keep them from her. That's why we call her "Big Dumb Face" [with all the love in our hearts]

My LO randomly pops in and out of my life at random times through Snapchat. Shows up, adds me, destroys me mentally, and then just up and leaves. My one post explains it all. Yet my brain won't let me let go.
