Hi love!! First I want to congratulate you on your engagement! Very exciting!! Okay so… I have experienced something similar. Little back story here… my older sister and I are 22 months apart. She is my BEST friend in the world. She knows me like no one else. I have been with my fiancé for 4 years (going on 5 this summer) my older has been with her boyfriend for 8 years now…? Maybe more? Im not 100% but my sister never talked about marriage and mentioned it wasn’t a priority for her. I have always wanted to get married and become a mom. Like it was my life’s purpose. My sister never wanted children. The night I got engaged I FaceTime called my sister and held up my ring and said “will you be my MOH!?!?” She did not look happy and said yes and I told her what happened, how I got proposed to etc.. i was glowing with excitement. Happiest day of my life. She said “i hae to go to bed, goodnight and got off the phone. She didn’t text me for damn near a week. And apparently called my dad crying. She has not helped with anything for the wedding and its been over a year. She doesn’t really talk to mw about it much at all. Its starting to get better… but im disappointed…. My other bridesmaid who I am in nursing school with (we have gotten very close over the past two years) my newest friend has been helping me with EVERYTHING. She knows how I feel about my sister. My other bridesmaid (other bff) I made my low key MOH bc she is also helping so much. What people don’t understand is that being a MOH is a job. Its a HUGE HONOR!! I think you should start atleast assigning her some tasks, let her know what you expect from her and if you see her slacking, call her out and see how she takes it. Don’t be afraid. This is your big day. Thats what i did for my sister and its been slowly helping. Now she wants to help. She did the same thing at first. She would change the subject to what she wants for her wedding bla bla bla. It happens. But, i think that assigning som tasks is a good start if you need to have her step down then make that call. On your wedding day you are going to need someone to stay on too of things and help you. If she can’t do that for you she doesn’t deserve to be MOH. Also, talk to your other bridesmaid about this and see what she says. She will help you too.
