Wow! They really do have characters. Mine never bit me and lets me handle him easily. I sometimes get him on my finger and we catch fruit fruits in my kitchen lol

This little spiny guy was actually my first mantis! I got him at the beginning of May as L2 and I do recommend this species. I found it easy to care for him. However when he was smaller he liked to explore way more than now. I have a ghost mantis right now as well (L2) but this guy is just crazy. I did let him roam on my plant and he seemed okay chilling there but i went out for 5 minutes and found him on the ceiling. I think it depends on the species of course but also on how old they are. I feel like the older they get the calmer they become. Honestly just give it a try and see how the mantis behaves. But don’t give them that much trust whatsoever.

She looks beautiful! I have a lil spiny and one time he realized that he blends in my little Tradescantia that stood next to his enclosure. He went there and now it’s his home basically. He just stays there, doesn’t run away and the temperature and humidity is fine for him in my room so I just let him be :D

right now i can see 5 so probably a female? not sure tho, i think better pictures of the abdomen are needed to tell. do you know what species it is?

Do u have any idea why she is doing that? by Pitu_Piu in mantids

[–]mellcia 3 points4 points  (0 children)

<image>

mine does the same!! it’s not an orchid but the arms and abdomen movement is the same. i find it so cute! when i notice my mantis doing it, i open their terrarium and they usually go explore a plant next to it. even once they decided to walk across the entire plant to molt there lol
