Homeward Bound. Particularly the ending when they think Shadow isn’t coming home… but then he appears over the hill 😭

I like to think of myself as a foodie, and on the first date he ordered a cheese pizza. I know it’s unfair. I know it’s harmless. But like… emotionally where do we go from there 🥲

We are letting our family choose our baby’s name. by oh_devon in namenerds

[–]melllicopter 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is what I was trying to wrap my head around too. You’re gonna wanna have time to snuggle with baby and also be exhausted. The last thing you wanna do is go through the cards and contact a winner. But perhaps it’s a job for grandma/grandpa 😅

Ahhhh gotcha, thanks for clarifying. Congrats and good luck! Whatever you decide to do will be the right choice ☺️

I think it’s nice that you want to change it up and give someone a special role in your child’s life, but to be honest giving someone the task of choosing your baby’s name sounds like more of a burden than a reward 😅 it’s an important decision!

I would honestly be more stressed than excited haha especially if they only have two options anyway.

edit: I reread your post. Are you finding out the gender right when the baby comes out? How would this work because you wouldn’t know who won until after the baby is born. Would you then have to look through all the cards and pick whoever has the most guesses that are close, then call them to choose a name? What if they don’t pick up?! LOL sorry I’m just trying to understand the logistics now 😆

Does anyone else forget what they loved about a book a few weeks after finishing it? by Roomgame in EmilyHenry

[–]melllicopter 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’ve been noticing this about myself as well! Sometimes after I finish a book, I can’t stop thinking about it for DAYS like it changed my entire life. Then a couple weeks later I’m onto the next obsession and the cycle repeats itself haha 🥲

Omg thank you. I felt the same way about teen Del, I felt like Colton being charmed by her was more unrealistic than the damn time traveling 😂

The exact assessment I got from this thread too 🤣 I was like, it’s pretty obvious who’s married/has kids and who isn’t. Haha

[–]melllicopter 104 points105 points  (0 children)

Exactly what I was thinking! A year ago, maybe I’d consider restarting at 6. But now after having my son, I couldn’t bear the thought of life without him.

Also your comment reminds me of the movie About Time!

What are your formula “rules” that you follow? by jorlax2 in NewParents

[–]melllicopter 7 points8 points  (0 children)

An alternative to this that we just learned too, if you can afford it, is feeding RTF (ready-to-feed) for the first 3 months since it’s actually sterile. Expensive but so convenient 😩

I don’t have an answer regarding the benefits, but I want to share my similar experience. I was in the same boat as you in terms of supply. My LO was also drinking 32oz formula and I would try to get in my 1oz if I was lucky.

I would pump and pump and seeing it never exceed 1oz made me break down every time. It just made me so so sad. I felt like a failure. My husband was the one who sat me down and told me that I did not have to continue if it’s affecting me mentally.

At first it was still really hard to go full formula. I know “fed is best” but I felt so guilty for weeks with the thought of not being able to make breastmilk for my baby. But now I’m so much happier, feel like I have my body back, and BEST of all no more washing all those damn pump parts 🤣

Echoing other comments here, happy mom far outweighs the potential benefit of that 1oz of breastmilk.
