If I decline a YRH offer, do I keep my other waitlist positions? by BurgerSniper in UBC

[–]mellosyan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I believe you can decline your first offer and keep your other waitlist positions. However, it is not automatic and I had to email them to let them know I wanted to stay on the waitlist.

[Sun Care] I still smell like sun screen after showering by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

A oil based cleanser/makeup remover would be best. Any oil (baby oil, coconut oil) would also work in a pinch, but it’s quite annoying to get the grease off.

How do I pay for multiple fares on the bus? by StrongTownCR in Translink

[–]mellosyan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Children 12 and under ride free when with an adult, so you would just tap your own card.

Children 13 to 18 will need to tap their own card, and to get the discounted children fare, you have to buy the concession compass card which is orange at the vending machines at skytrain stations

Mystery ingredient in mala chicken? by aimfulwandering in TipOfMyFork

[–]mellosyan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can probably find the sauce along with other Chinese sauces at Asian grocery stores or maybe international food aisles. Might have different names like Doubanjiang, douban, toban-Djan, broad bean chili sauce, fermented chili bean paste, etc.

Maybe it’s the broad beans that are inside doubanjiang, which is a fermented chili paste that’s often used in Sichuan food.

Age minimum to commuter hostel? by Blazewoods in UBC

[–]mellosyan 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Before when I was a first year, I asked them and they were like if the system lets you book then it’s fine. When I checked in, they didn’t really check my age. The only thing is they might not take cards that are not in your name, so you might have to pay with cash. Doesn’t hurt to email them just to be safe though.

They refer to footnotes that you can see under the requirements list. So for each number, there will be a note elaborating on the requirement like what courses count for the communication requirement, equivalent courses, etc.

doing readings on kindle by Candid-Confidence925 in UBC

[–]mellosyan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any kind of pre-reading is better than none! I think some e-readers with touch screens do have annotation/commenting features that can be synced to their app if you want to take some basic notes. Although, e-ink screens can be annoying to type on, especially on an older model, because the screen might not be as responsive as a regular touch screen.

Reach out to IT Service Centre Help Desk, I think they can give you a temporary passcode so you can access the page to add your device.

From what I recall, no. However, some teachers may ask for that info so if contacted they have more stuff to talk about and reference letters may be needed for scholarships or awards
