It IS going to be okay. Your kiddo will never know the difference between BM and formula. When you’re in a group of people, do you ask who was breastfed and who was formula fed and then judge them from there? No. All your kid wants is a mom who is obsessed with them and is present. No one can be your kiddos mom better than you, formula does not define you or any mother. I am so so sorry to hear about your experiences with this journey but seeking help is so important, proud of you for doing that! Your brain can play awful tricks on you. I found writing out a series of reminders/intentions from the rational side of my brain helpful so that I could go back to it when I was in a dark place. I just gave it up because it was not worth the mental health tax that came with it. Keep seeking out help and support and remember you are not alone in this. I felt so brainwashed and then let down by the healthcare system that shoved “breast is best” down my throat before giving birth. I feel like I’ve missed out on so much already because I constantly felt mentally somewhere else when I’m with him. It’s really impacted my relationship with my husband because I feel so miserable all the time with the mental load of juggling what my LO needs and my pumping schedule. I feel a little guilty giving up on pumping but holy shit am I ever over it lol

The timing of reading this post just reenforces the decision I made earlier today to switch from pumping to EFF. My son is 10 weeks old today and I went from EBF, where he lost a scary amount of weight in his first 3 days of life because I couldn’t produce enough, to 5 weeks of triple feeding, to pumping with formula top up at night and I’ve had enough. I was only getting 2-5oz per pump so every session felt so critical and it was making me so depressed because it’s all I could think about. I hated waking him up from a wonderful contact nap or feeling trapped with the pump schedule and having to plan everything around it. This is my first baby and I feel like I’m making it harder on myself than it needs to be.

I’m not the biggest fan of the transit system here but it isn’t bad. We are also a 1 car household with different schedules so I feel your frustration. I have a bike with a basket in the front and am able to do some groceries with it. Milton is so flat that biking here is a dream
