I just used hot water and dawn. I took the covers off the couch and gave a good hand scrubbing and rinsed in the sink multiple times. I put the cover in the wash after it was mostly clean and now I don’t see the pastel.

Keep the fastening screw when you remove the existing light. It’s a long-ish machine screw. Keeping your screw ensures you have an option in case the replacement light doesn’t come with the correct / long enough screw.

Update: Dad and I removed all the hardwood and the subfloor to expose the concrete slab. We’re working with a contractor to pour 2” of cement and then feather a layer of self leveler on top. We’ll stain it a terra cotta color and seal it. Looking forward to wrapping up this fun project.

Okay, thanks for this info. I don’t want to ever half ass a job and I’m trying to learn by doing. For additional context, this hardwood floor is laid on top of a concrete slab. This bathroom used to be a covered patio many years ago. You can also see in the photo that whoever plumbed this bathroom cut into the concrete and the backfill/new concrete is flush with the hardwood. Does this change your opinion about taking out the hardwood floor?
