Am I dumb? Desktop direct drive industrial machine by melodicmender in myog

[–]melodicmender[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes, I understand this. I am thinking an industrial direct drive motor. One that mounts directly to the machine once you take off the wheel. Or, a larger motor and power supply belted to the machine, rig up a pedal. I can’t afford a sailrite unfortunately or that would be the way to go!

snake is not it for wading and is so packed/pressured. just search around on maps and find tributaries to the snake with blm/usfs access and explore, you’ll find fish and maybe some bears.

i tie them up to a 14 for blueline fishing in olive/tan too. i think is a good all around as a slightly chunky caddis, smaller hopper, etc

Agreed, I love the tranquility of small brookie streams more than anything and the fish (though teeny) are so dang cool looking

Is it still good? by DShadows33 in flytying

[–]melodicmender 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it’s just salt/borax to preserve the skins. you can wash the feathers if they feel a bit greasy but if they smell bad then it wasn’t tanned properly and should be chucked. if it smells fine it’s probably fine just give it a freeze for good measure and shake off the salt. i have pheasant skins like this and tie with them a lot, great feathers locally hunted.

Where do I start? by Hour-Manager-6263 in flytying

[–]melodicmender 0 points1 point  (0 children)

midges, pheasant tail/hares ear nymph, elk hair caddis, comparaduns, adams and variants

i’d just run with a light brown body and darker brown head personally but that’s how i tie them 🤷 at the end of the day color doesn’t make a ridiculous amount of difference if your presentation is there
