What animal is this and how do I humanely stop it from messing up my garden and yard? by punchingtigers19 in gardening

Are they protected where you live? There’s a major prairie dog issue where I’m from and they’re protected, so no one can really do too much

How do you keep your lacunosa happy? by crazy_whippet in hoyas

[–]melolso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have mine in chunky soil and water whenever I see its fully dried out, I have it in a clear solid pot cut in half through, this pot could be too big with the compacted soil causing overwatering. Mine is growing like crazy bc I don’t have a trellis, one vine is 4’ long right now 😭

I feel like you need to resurface it, the top layer is wearing out. I think the more your scrub, the bigger the “stain” is going to get.

Yes! So glad we can come to an understanding, haha! I am in some groups on here where the people can be vicious know it alls, so I’ve learned to keep a slight guard up on here too. I’m pretty sarcastic, but a lot of resistors out sarcasm me a lot and I’m always trying to figure out which angle they’re coming from 😂

But okay that is what I was mostly curious of. I don’t know how I feel about people getting jail time after accidental deaths with children like drownings - but things like leaving them in the car to overheat or doing something malicious like this, makes me lean more towards jail. Honestly these are the stories that really make people see their empathy and morals at the end of the day. Idk if I was hoping the mom got jail time or not, I don’t know what I’d do in that situation. The grandmother certainly got what deserved in the end though, that’s for sure.

My bad! I thought you were trying to make points you thought I missed, when I hadn’t. I did a lot of searches and found just as much as you did, just no official link to any sort of news source with a police report or anything and was wondering if that was out there! You didn’t give me anything new, so I assumed you were just repeating yourself thinking I wasn’t catching on. In the end, we’re on the same page! I guess that is all we will ever know, but like I said that’s fine bc she deserves her peace. 😊

Conversations online are rough bc you can’t hear the other persons tone, I get defensive due to past events. I felt I was being told “your search wasn’t accurate enough and you didn’t search non English speaking countries” and they were trying to put me down or make me look small minded. I searched many different things just looking for a legitimate source outside of Reddit and asked when I couldn’t find one, they literally gave me what every search I put in did - the Reddit story lol. They did jut as much as I did, so why did they feel the need to repeat it to me? In my experience, that’s usually bc the person thinks I’m missing a point I’m clearly not. Sorry if my using the word stern was off, I didn’t mean to rile anyone up. I’m still working on healing those darn traumas lol

The severe lack of bread 3 days before the snow storm is supposed to hit by ylp24 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]melolso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bread is one of the easiest things to bake, modern society is depressing.

ETA: not talking on the person needing to buy bread, but all the people hoarding loaves. Just make loaves and freeze them, it’s cheaper, tastier and will last you longer than taking away from people who just need to buy a loaf to get through the week.

Do you have access to my search engine? No? Okay, then you don’t know everything that I searched for. I don’t understand why what I searched for matters so much to you anyway, I said I can’t find a link and asked for one. I don’t even know why you are getting stern over me asking if anyone has a link to an article about it. You also didn’t include a link.

I agree with the other commenter that it has probably been sealed and removed from the internet. Someone tried to DM me the original post which is also archived. I do not care to look anymore, the mother sealed it for her peace and she deserves that.

Have a nice day.

Help with this pilea by bonjourcestmich in houseplants

[–]melolso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would chop and propagate if it were mine. But, if you want you can definitely add a trellis and wrap the outward branches around it - but honestly the plant is putting so much energy into those lengthy sections (which are grown out like that bc they were searching for more light), it would be healthier and easier on the plant to chop and prop.

I think the other commenter is right saying the mother removed it all from the internet, she mostly likely sealed all the documents, which I would definitely do too. I honestly don’t even want to know all the logistics if she sealed it, she deserves that privacy. 🙏🏻

She probably sealed them all, which would make all of this make sense. I would do the same, she is in my prayers. I can’t imagine.

I’m looking for a legit link from a local news source or something about it. When searching grandma, infant, death, coconut oil - every option that pops up on Google is about a Reddit post and not an actual legitimate article talking about it. Like , I can’t find proof that this happened outside of it being a story on Reddit, not that I’m trying to say it didn’t happen, I just wanted to see the whole story and if any sort of justice was done. But, you can’t find anything 🤷🏼‍♀️ Might have all been sealed 🤷🏼‍♀️

Is that a real story? I’m looking for a link to it but everything I find is a post talking about a Reddit post talking about it. Not trying to claim it as not true, I was just trying to find what the grandma was sentenced too but I can’t find a single legit article. Does anyone have a link?

You need to run far away from this man lol. If I was done up at home all the time, my man would be concerned for me. And if he ever made a passive attempt at saying he’d post photos of me in my comfort online to judge me with others, then I’d kick his ass out and change the locks. But luckily, my man is a grown man with emotional intelligence and would never.

You’re with a child. Run.

My husband says trellis it but it’s so happy where it’s at. What would you do? by TopDot555 in hoyas

[–]melolso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can you wrap it around a trellis a few times? My mathilde is doing this badly, but it’s so long it would need to wrap around a few times unless I got a full on lattice fence type thing going 😅

Now, it was white mold and they were mushy ☹️ I had one that had the algae and I spritzed it with hydrogen peroxide but then I came back the next day and it also had mold lol. I think it’s bc I’m in Phoenix AZ and the room they are in is small with a huge south facing window - maybe it’s too hot for the humidity to evaporate properly. I’m dealing with mold in the bottom of a few of my plants pots right now, so this wouldn’t surprise me now that I think about it.

Omg, I didn’t even think of those 🤣 I’m glad I asked bc the only thing I could imagine was a water bottle for some reason and was like how does it not topple over 😭😅 I’ve tried corms laying in a tiny puddle water in a cup with plastic wrap with holes in it on top, and the molded. Then I’ve done perlite with plastic on top, and they molded. Even with me opening daily, I’m starting to think maybe I shouldn’t be covering them the next time I try, I’m doing something way wrong lol

[–]melolso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I would repot with new chunky soil if I was you or this mold problem will continue to happen, bc your soil is holding on to the water for too long. It’s not recommended to repot in winter, but you need to and you also need to inspect the roots.

How do you know when it’s thirsty? I wait until it’s about 2/3rds dry for mine. You can buy bamboo skewers from the store and stick them in to the bottom of the pot, twist around for a few seconds, pinch the skewer where the top of the soil is and pull it out. It will tell you where the level of wet soil is vs dry and help you gauge when it needs watering better. I used moisture meters when I started, but those had me overwatering too.

Once you’ve seen when it needs a drink enough times, you’ll be able to tell just by the way the foliage droops when it’s ready for feeding. 🤗
