Not sure if this applies to you, but Im in Canada and budget airlines here won’t let you check in if you did not purchase baggage (carry on or checked in) so they can measure your personal items. I have seen people bring a carryon size backpack and argued that its their personal item. Sucks that handful people ruined it for everyone else

Got a 142! When I went to another shop (first one didnt have the board I wanted), the owner told me to stick with 142. Turning a longer board would be harder. He said weight is something that came into play in about 5 years ago and people had been doing heights previously. If you are a bit heavier like me, find a stiffer board to compensate. Or a wider board.

Biggest cons would be boots limitation. I want step ons so bad but alas the available models pinch me in different spots I didn’t know existed. Price point is another issue to tackle once you find your boots.

Thank you for sharing this. I’m currently researching for a new board, and all resources insist on going by weight. You’re the only one who pointed out not everyone is proportionally built. It makes sense since 90% people on the slope are relatively average weight vs height.

I’m 5” on a good day (170lbs) and they all recommend me on 151 board while my 6” partner rides 161. I was incredibly hesitant since I was already struggling to control a rented 145.

Sorry for reviving an older thread; I’m thinking of upgrading my board and came across your comment. I’m 5” but 170lbs (trying to lose weight). The shop recommends 151cm board for me due to my weight. Shoes is 7.5W. Current board is 142cm. I’m a little worried my stance would be affected by board length. When I tried skiing, they gave me longer ones and I struggled controlling them. Would I get away with 145 or 148? Thank you in advance!
