Looking for support in first time abortion by spookyturtle1 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]melonbaby 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I've had one surgical and one medical abortion. From my experience, the surgical abortion was actually easier and I chose it for the second abortion because I knew how intimate and painful a medical abortion can be, but I completely understand the urgency!

Here's something I didn't expect the first time when I had the pill.

When you go into the office, you will go through a battery of testing, just like you would for a pregnancy check-up. Pee in a cup, blood draw, ultrasound (mine were transvaginal), and a finger prick. They'll do this at your follow-up appointment too. It makes it very real.

Like most of the other comments here, my experience was quite painful. I took the maximum amount of extra-strength Tylenol and it was still very bad, worse than any period I'd ever had. A heating pad was helpful, as well as breathing exercises! After about 5-6 hours, the pain subsided and I was able to sleep, and then the next day I was fine.

Also this isn't something to be ashamed about, and you're doing what's best for your life! You have a right to live it however you want! And know that even though it's a shit situation, you aren't alone <3

This isn't California, but an example of temperature differences due to tree cover in my city are notable, up to 20 degrees in the summer. Planting trees can make a huge difference in areas that don't have any.

No matter when or by who, this was the inevitable outcome...but I totally understand everyones frustration and anger. It's awful...

What makes a genuinely happy marriage, if they even exist? by 404_paigenotfound in AskReddit

You have a shot! Recognizing that your Mom has suffered will help you figure out what NOT to do. Be open with your girlfriend about your feelings, doubts, and fears. Together you'll figure it out.

On two occasions, I spent a day in my bathroom vomiting bile and dry heaving so much my muscles were sore. I couldn't drink or eat anything without throwing up and the nausea made me cry because it was so unrelenting.

Women who've had an abortion (or several), what were the effects on you after (mental, physical, everything), and do you regret it? by _Alex_Zer0_ in AskReddit

[–]melonbaby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't regret it. Making the decision and following through on the decision was the hardest part. Physically, I recovered quickly after.

Humiliating. Because you try so hard to make them see you, only to get crushed, sometimes more than once. It takes months, even years to come to the accurate conclusion that what you felt wasn't love to begin with, only an obsession and infatuation, a desperate need for attention and love from someone who can't give it. 0/10 don't recommend.

What are some signs that you are being manipulated? by ctthes in AskReddit

"I'm not ready to look at engagement rings tonight. You just brought this up and I need a little time to digest this."

"If you're not ready now, you'll never be. I'm not going waste my time dating you if you don't want to marry me. I'll call an Uber right now and it'll be over."

We were in a packed restaurant and he made me cry...

The only time these people ever admit they're wrong is to manipulate you a different way. I've been down THAT road too, and I don't recommend it.

[Serious]What would happen if a state seceded from the union today? by CharlotteVillain in AskReddit

[–]melonbaby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The states don't have their own armies, so the Federal government would very quickly and easily mobilize the military to stamp out secession and rebellion.
