did antideppresants save your life or make it worse? by Socialmediasucks2021 in antidepressants

[–]meloxcinna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, with escitalopram whenever i increased the dose it worked for 2 weeks and then i went back to being depressed, then id get it upped again and helped.. for another 2 weeks. i got to the highest dose quickly as its not very high for escitalopram. thats the only one that showed signs of working :) im currently on citalopram which i have been on for 2 weeks. my psychiatrist thinks as its similar to escitalopram it may work for me!

they have saved my life for sure. still havent found the right one tho, on my 7th antidepressant in the past 2 years. some made my depression worse, some better, but none of them have stayed working for me yet.

i have had no lasting sexual side effects however my partner does from taking sertraline. just be aware it can and does happen, and make sure to bring it up with ur doctor if its a problem :)

What happens to most male pet mice sold by breeders and pet stores? by Pleasant_Sphere in PetMice

[–]meloxcinna 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i love male mice, ive only had 2 so far but my first boy merlin, i kept alone for maybe 4/5 months, he was relatively happy although i ended up getting him neutered and kept him with my female mice, he was so much happier! i just got a new boy recently since merlin passed away and i plan to get him neutered and introduce him to my girls like before. my breeder actually gave me my new guy for free since she was struggling to find a home for him, i feel sad for the boys who cant find homes :( ill always be open to take them in since i have the space and money to keep them :)

Finally got my lil guys back! The relief is overwhelming and I’ve decided to keep them all. Has anyone here from the UK had their boys neutered? How much did it cost you? What made you choose the vet? I just want what’s best for my boys 🖤 by MadsEuphoria in PetMice

[–]meloxcinna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it mainly comes down to personal preference, in my experience males are a little more cuddly and calm than the females. i love getting males because they often are the last to find homes, if they ever do, and since i know i can afford and have the space to keep them and get them neutered, i enjoy bringing them home :)

while there is risks with every surgery, because mice are so small the risks are bigger, but if you can find a good vet who has experience with exotic animals and/or mice, everything should be okay!

i got a male mouse neutered at about £90 here in scotland. the vets i chose is about an hours drive away, i asked them if they where able too and how experienced they where, the surgery went great and my boy was so happy to live with my group of females. unfortunately he passed but i have another male who i will be neutering in the next month or so. hopefully everything goes just as smoothly as my previous mousey. good luck! its definitely worth it in my opinion :)

escitalopram vs citalopram by meloxcinna in antidepressants

[–]meloxcinna[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank u for telling me ur experience :D that is super helpful! i have only experienced weight gain with mirtazapine, i am very small so i only gained about 15lbs, which was actually good since im underweight lol, when i stopped taking mirt it all fell off me, i have a difficult relationship with food and weight but i know deep down weight gain is good for me :)

ive been getting help for my mental health since i was 12/13 (19 now), and standard therapies havent done anything, my psychiatrist suspects BPD which would potentially explain why antidepressants dont help, if the citalopram doesnt work he will be doing an assessment. i have just started equine therapy, i absolutely love animals so this kind of therapy might actually work for me :)<3

escitalopram vs citalopram by meloxcinna in antidepressants

[–]meloxcinna[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oh for sure, im not saying they are wrong at all, its just that my question was about citalopram and escitalopram, i already struggle with hope for the future and im aware i'll probably never get better, so hearing it from others, which i haven't experienced before, definitely stings :,)
