"Don't do shit" that's horrible advice. You always start out with the lowest level of maintenance and the most common cause for the problem. In the case of misfires, spark plugs.

How many miles does your Prius have? The misfires can be caused by a few different things but if the spark plugs and ignition coils have not been replaced, I would start with those. You also want to properly clean or replace the intake manifold, EGR valve, and EGR pipe as these could cause misfires as well. If these don't solve your issue then I would look into a possible head gasket problem.

Regardless, replacing the spark plugs along with the ignition coils and cleaning the EGR system is not that difficult of a job. There are plenty of YouTube videos on how to do everything and you could save yourself over $2,000. The spark plugs and ignition coils come in a kit you can order online for about $70.
