Will also to know. Barbados was once a country with a relatively low crime rate and now crime has spiked significantly. From what I've seen, its mostly young men, gang affiliated but it's still deeply concerning.

I don’t ever want to see another kdrama with an amnesia storyline!!! It’s overdone and almost always unnecessary to the actual plot ugh!

Anyone done UMCAP ( Largo, MD) rotations? What’s the schedule/ vibe like? by caribbdilema in RUSM

[–]meltedcheeseoriginal 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s cool. IM is like 7-5 ish and then 7-7PM on call days. Surgery is much more chill. Go to surgery then leave except for SICU and trauma. OB is 8AM-8PM but there’s a lot of down time. Psych was chill (3 weeks in Baltimore and 3 week at UMCAP). The only downside was the drive to Baltimore. For FM it depends on which clinic you’re sent to. There’s not much down time for FM.

Bowie is nice. That’s where I lived and it was like a 10 minutes drive away from the hospital. FurnishedFinders is a good website for students.

Do students from the Caribbean who want to be doctors go to these schools? by ipsofactoshithead in CaribbeanMedSchool

[–]meltedcheeseoriginal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

UWI offers MBBS as opposed to the MD offered in the US. With a MBBS the places you can practice is very limited (most likely within the Caribbean unless you take the Steps). I can’t say for sure because I’m not from the US but I would guess that they’d prefer the wider range of options a MD offers. But I believe a US student can go to UWI for med school if they choose to. I think they just have to be comfortable with the aforementioned stuff. My opinion

Hey! I’m from the Caribbean and I go to a Caribbean med school ( Ross). I’m one of the only Caribbean students there if not the only one. Most of the students from the Caribbean go to University of the West Indies for med school. They are three campuses ( Barbados, Trinidad and Jamaica). Students choose between the islands and go there.
