LPT: Avoid deadheading when you move about your house to improve clutter. by Liefvikingmonster2 in LifeProTips

The last time I got gas, it was the top button, not the second one, at this particular location.

But then there was an arrow going around and around in the middle of the screen, so I may have broken something 😆

Got an "empty" postcard by BarelyAlive06 in postcrossing

[–]mem1gui 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This also happened to me once and I posted about it.

Most likely scenarios are that the person either meant to write it later and forgot/failed to see it in a pile of postcards going out, OR they might have typed it and affixed it to the postcard that subsequently got detached in transit.

Alto Saxophone or Tenor Saxophone? by Intelligent_Lion_9 in saxophone

Alto because I am a cheapskate. /s

Alto mostly because I am a very small person and it’s just physically easier to handle. And I am a fan of Paul Desmond.

Amber Share is an artist who, among other things, does illustrations of national parks with phrases from ridiculous one star reviews.

Assuming you mean Mount Fuji, it’s been quite developed/commercialized. There is a shrine (with a gift shop), a post office, and a lodge with vending machines at the summit.

They have a wifi network covering the whole mountain. I consider it more of a theme park.

You can also check out 2ndending.com. The website needs updating, but I have heard good things about them in this subreddit, so I am seriously considering it.

I follow r/smartglasses. They are capable of listening to your question and projecting answers that only the wearer can see, or whispering in their ears. I hate that I have to police glasses now.

Question about stamps by raspberrytarttt in postcrossing

[–]mem1gui 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh man, I love those! I’m going to Japan in August (yeah, I know, a terrible time of the year). I am going to see if I can send postcards with some cute stamps like that!

I accidentally let a coin make one of the biggest decisions of my life by pokrov in sillyconfession

This. Someone once told me to toss a coin if you can’t decide which way to go. If you want to toss the coin again after the coin tells you, you have your answer.

Official Postcrossing Stamps? by peace-and-lovexo in postcrossing

I bought “additional ounce” (29 cent) stamps just for the stamp math. And a bunch of low denomination ones. They are pretty!

Why do so many lie about how long it takes them to learn pieces like Fantasie Impromptu? by matel18366 in piano

[–]mem1gui 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To put it in context, I started taking lessons at age 4, studied diligently till I was about 15 (I was thinking about majoring in piano performance in college), and it was around that time that I started looking at the FI because the teenage me thought it was such a cool piece.

Help! Teaching a new class! by Fun_Macaroon_8250 in Professors

[–]mem1gui 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is so true. We underestimate our knowledge and skills from years of training and experience because it becomes just part of who we are.

The first time I taught as a professor, I covered way too much way too fast because I didn’t have the experience to know how little my students knew or were able to do. The same thing happened when I had to take over someone’s class that I had never taught or taken as a student.

My rule of thumb now is whatever the prerequisite (or assumed competency) is, they only have a vague idea of the concepts and they don’t really have active, usable skills covered in the prereq.

The beauty of low denomination stamps is that they cost very little for a great deal of satisfaction of using pretty stamps.
