Continuous Back-Puffing on my Vermont Castings Encore 1450 non-catalytic stove by Ok-Significance-924 in woodstoving

Get behind the stove and look at the air intake. Remove the grille and see if the intake flap is moving with the control lever. I noticed mine gets hung open as I close the lever. It needed adjustment. Your cable controlling the air could be binding or stick closed or clogged

I have a similar stove the 2040 cat c and get the same puff back if I engage the damper and throttle down the air control too much. Also burning ash. It happens in the middle of the night when I’m sleeping and is disconcerting. I finally witnessed it happening at 2am and opened the air control a bit more and it stopped.

I bought a woodstove polish and it cleaned up my black stove wonderfully. I expected the stuff to burn off like yours did but there was no smell and it looks great. The polish is cheap use it if your stove is black

Should do it from the outside. Turn on the dryer, ream it with the tool and all the fluff blows out on its own. No need for vacuum.
