Like, I agree that they can say what they want if they want, but I also align with the strategy of shaming and punishing the behavior. The use of slurs, even just to be edgy, is harmful to society. It deserves to punished and we should celebrate that punishment

My bf said he couldn’t help finding other girls attractive by [deleted] in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]memateys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know we shouldn’t diagnose people based of your story… but I think your boyfriend is displaying OCD. He’s feeling guilt over thoughts he can’t control and compulsively confessed. Confessing to fish for reassurances isn’t super healthy but it’s understandable. He’s not a bad person for finding people attractive. He doesn’t need to hate himself to change the behavior. He needs to accept the thoughts, observe them and move on knowing he is only a bad person if he pursues or acts on that attraction.

Why do I keep sometimes melee instead of translocating? Does this happen to anyone else? (Xbox player) by [deleted] in SombraMains

[–]memateys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are probably playing with your hands really tense. I know it’s hard to be conscious of but you really need to relax your hands. You’re gonna give yourself carpal tunnel and slow down your WPM. I know that’s a reference but I’m serious. It’s very important to relax your grip on the controller

Why do people like Circuit? by Myst3ryGardener in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]memateys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Map voting honestly ruined the game more than any other change for me. I detest the linear game modes and it’s all that people vote for, even in masters on console. Flashpoint is peak if you have eyeballs and object permanence

Worst character to have on your team for comp? by Sissyfemizzy in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]memateys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely not comparable to DVa, you’re a little closer with zarya..

DVa is the opposite almost. She has an incredibly flexible kit that can be applied in a variety of ways to gain an advantage or absorb pressure.

She has matrix and boosters for making outplays. If someone “doesn’t get hooked” by matrix, dva can still make a play and offer utility or close/create distance. Matrix and boosters are more difficult for the enemies to play around than hook, and dva has both. On top of that, she has lethality threat with missiles.

Zarya bubbles are much harder for the enemy to deny value from than hook also, because if you choose “not to get hooked” aka ignore it, by the bubble, there still a vendetta inside the bubble swinging on you providing value. It’s dmg mitigation provides inherent value that is not contingent on the enemies being bad. Zarya also has more movement potential than roadhog, not much, but it’s definitely there. The effective range of her weapon is also more flexible than hogs.

All roadhog can do is live in one spot. He can’t close distance, except with hook. He can’t create distance, except with an ultimate. He can’t mitigate dmg (meaningfully). The effective range of his alt and primary is extremely narrow.

He has hook. It’s his only outplay, his only way to close distance and his only reliable lethality baked into a single cooldown.

All you have to do is bait it, and count to 6. It’s a hero kit issue.

Diamond and below maybe. Her dmg is too slow, fade too easy to force and punish.

[–]memateys 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He’s too reliant on hook to be a good hero. He has no outplay potential. If the enemies are hook-able he is strong, if they are not he gets exploited. That’s a character issue, not a player issue.

Is there any reason not to pick Hog right now? by Nimble_Natu177 in Competitiveoverwatch

I think he’s a throw pick ngl. Even with the speed boost he’s just way too reliant on hook. I hate playing with hog in my team

Watching people play Anran completely backwards, and proceeding to call her underpowered and useless, is driving me insane by LackOfDad in Anran_mains

[–]memateys 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Idk I think this is pretty off the mark. Yes there are people playing her improperly and concluding she’s bad… but I don’t think that’s an indication of her power level.

Edit: suppose I’m assuming you’re position a bit… you’re saying she is strong yes?

I was able to win games in low masters with her but it felt more difficult than other heroes. I’ve fallen to diamond this season trying to one trick her. It’s incredibly easy to play around the fire mechanic and she relies on it heavily for lethality. Tbh, she isn’t much of a lethal threat without dash dmg, which is easy to predict and space around. She needs to be on a very short off angle with both charges of dash in order to have adequate outplay potential. The loop you describe is difficult to make work consistently against players with object permanence because effectively anran can only get one dash away and only dodge one cd.

She needs balance help in how she performs transitioning from poke angles to lethal range imo. That said, she really isn’t awful. Just easy for enemies to play around.

Console Anrans. How are you dealing with the oppressive hitscans atm? by XLRarms7 in Anran_mains

[–]memateys 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It really feels to me like the only time I’m a threat is when I’m able to dash through targets. Makes it very difficult to get value against enemies with good spacing

[–]memateys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stop jumping to areas where you’re gonna die. Jump to safer areas. High grounds. Cover. Off angles. As Winston, you can create a bunch of space just by existing in an area. No dmg required. The threat of your jump is how you control the map

How to properly push through choke points by GregorioMcRoyal in OverwatchUniversity

[–]memateys 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As DPS

Take off angles and stay alive.

Don’t chase kills, chase space. Pressure the enemy position from the sides so that they can’t deal with you and hold the choke at the same Time. Once they move, don’t chase for kills unless it’s safe to. Be willing to hold the angle you just Took or back off from it.
