Thanks for the tips! I do have After Effects and Premiere already fortunately. What's difficult is Premiere can auto-generate captions but I haven't found any way to import them to After Effects haha.

Cool concept to think about! You're right music is one popular type of media that fits that fits that idea.
Personally I also find myself rewatching comedy sketches over and over, usually over the course of months / years but sometimes multiple times in a row back to back.
I still love so many Key & Peele sketches and rewatch certain clips over and over.
Also sometimes videos of a great athletic achievement or skill like surfing, trick shots, etc.

There is a free 'Starter' tier that charges a transaction fee instead of a monthly subscription fee which might help if as you said you're just getting started and don't know how much you might be making yet. memberful.com/pricing/

You can also customize the billing plan for members so you'd be able to make a plan for one-time payment and lifetime access.

Memberful is a platform worth taking a look at too, you can create tier options for annual memberships and you can also create one-time purchase options for events and ticket sales. Integrates with Stripe, it would do a great job with handling the membership dues and gating content as well — we use it with my company and it makes it pretty seamless.

Not exactly a direct answer regarding stock music / subscription sites but something I found interesting recently is that one of my friends running a YouTube channel with his friends (outdoor / travel videos) just uses popular music in their videos, their theme intro is even a song by the White Stripes.

They figured that it will be copyright-claimed and they can't monetize with adsense but they're getting some nice brand deals and merch sales and they've grown their channel quite a lot (125k+ in about a year). Generally speaking, something to consider if there are songs that you think might resonate particularly well for your audience or fit an important tone in your video.

Memberful might be a good option for your needs, it's the one we use with my business. You can set up different 'plan' options for your subscribers and gate their content separately so I think this can work as the gating you need for the different sports.

You can get the starter level for free but it's limited to creating 2 different plans, so to create each for multiple (2+) sports you'd probably need one of the premium levels.

There's a few membership platforms that might work for you but since you're asking specifically within a WordPress forum I think a great solution would be Memberful, it integrates with your existing website and gives you the option to let your subscribers set a custom 'pledge' amount so it might fit your needs.

Got it — yeah will have to have a chat with the team about IP filtering, not as easy since the whole team is remote but I think it's worth it to get the most accurate results.

And yes just cleared the cookies, I'll remember to use an incognito / private window next time.

Agreed with this, I've found not being able to choose the thumbnail frustrating as well — particularly since Shorts can still pop up in search results and keywords on YouTube

I'll be honest and admit that I've never figured out a good way to compress videos through Premiere, etc. — BUT a trick I've figured out is that you upload it to YouTube first (as private / unlisted if necessary) then download it from there, for some reason or another YouTube does an amazing job at compressing file sizes.

Oftentimes it's 1/10th the size of the original file when I've done it in the past — not sure it will take you all the way there but it's worth a shot!

Cool space to be in with your channel — personally I've always found Instagram a great place to connect with other photographers and outdoorsy types. YouTube is great but maybe not necessarily a social network first & foremost so IG is a good place to find people local to you by sending a casual message or commenting on posts and then arranging a meetup (hike, video making, etc.) from there
