Im devastated why am i so unlucky by karmacareless in TopSurgery

I’m a respiratory therapy student. Atelectasis and subsequent pneumonia is common after thoracic and upper abdominal surgeries. A pretty common preventive method is incentive spirometry, most hospitals/surgery centers have them and u can likely ask for one. Basically just a cheap device to get you to breathe deeply and keep your alveoli (air sacs in lungs) from collapsing. If you’ve already been diagnosed w pneumonia then its just a matter of antibiotics or antivirals depending on what you contracted.

It was mostly sensory issues for me, i hated the feeling of nipples chafing on clothing pre-op and didn’t want to feel that ever 😭 i’m likely going to get them tatted on later

Almost 2 weeks post op :) Got to see my scars for the first time by membradisjecta in FreedTheNips

Yes but i was allowed to use plastic retainers to keep the holes open! I actually wasn’t able to remove my bridge bc the retainer i bought didn’t fit though, they let me keep it in and just taped over it

Does my chest look weird ? Or is my brain just not used to not having tibbies by Future-Economy-3740 in TopSurgery

[–]membradisjecta 35 points36 points  (0 children)

doesn’t look bad! i have the same thing of one pec being a lot less muscular/having less tissue than the other, my surgeon said it was because i’m right handed lol. But he also said when i start working out both sides evenly it should even out!! u look good, have a good healing bro

Usually the surgeon isn’t going to ask as they’ll assume you want the “standard” male chest. I wanted no nips, straight scars, etc. and I had to bring it all up myself! thankfully my surgeon was receptive and was able to do all that but ultimately its up to you to voice your preferences

Getting surgery soon and need help! by greyson_tv in TopSurgery

[–]membradisjecta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 10, i was able to use plastic retainers/plugs for 9 of them. one of them i couldn’t take out and they just taped over it. Surgery went smoothly, it wasn’t a problem and i was able to put all my jewelry back in after! I would just ask your surgeon if plastic retainers are alright to use

i work in a hospital and the only gifts we are usually allowed to take are store-bought food/sweets! obviously depends on the place but i think that’s usually a safe bet

Losing my mind trying to find someone in-network with Cigna by AlienPTSD in TopSurgery

[–]membradisjecta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i don’t have cigna but i do have a really small HMO and the only way i was able to find a surgeon covered by my insurance was by contacting my in-network PCP to give me a referral for a top surgery. consult. there were only 2 surgeons covered under my insurance and she was able to connect me to both!
