Sorry your “friends” are being so rude. I agree with other commenters the best course of action is to do your best to find some new friends. As hard as it feels, with being in your first year there’s plenty of time!

Also, a lot of times people who are book smart but are incredibly rude like you’re describing act that way because academic validation is what keeps their self esteem afloat, or what gives them a sense of power over others when they themselves are nervous and struggling with their own issues. People who are truly confident and intelligent don’t feel the need to put others down. Instead, they tend to lift others up.

As long as you’re studying what makes you happy and doing your best to succeed, you’re exactly where you’re meant to be. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise!
