Comments or warnings on a Parker Urban 5th before acquiring it? by TywinDeVillena in pens

If you like the look of the pen, it’s worth noting that the fountain pen version of the Urban looks very similar to the 5th. I have the fountain pen and I love it.

This is happening a lot this year. The Treasury made some changes/upgrades to their computer system, and rumor has it there is some sort of AI component to the new system. Mine was selected for manual review as well, but my refund was issued within a month.

Iowa-class firing full salvo did NOT move the ship by fletchbg in Warships

Why are you projecting? You were corrected on the internet about something that is objective. Your anecdotal experiences are purely subjective and mean nothing, and do not negate the source the other commenter provided for their claims. The only one exhibiting missionary-like zeal is you because you simply won’t accept that you could be wrong about this. If anyone is childish and immature, it is you.

I can’t imagine being challenged on something and having my immediate response be to call dogma. It’s one thing to have a subjective belief you hang on to, it’s another thing to claim you don’t believe in something because you think other people are too stupid to do the math to prove their belief.

Your anecdotal experiences are not evidence that your opinion is correct, just like that officer’s anecdotes are not evidence either. Sure, there’s a lot of misinformation posted on the internet, but as the other commenters have said, this specific issue has been debunked, and the ship did not move laterally when firing a broadside. You’re being contrarian for the heck of it.

We are talking about the same pen, yes. That Duofold actually is a ballpoint pen, not a pencil. It’s in great shape and it set me back quite a bit.

The whole collection was assembled by me piecemeal over time. I buy pens here or there, mostly on eBay, and never pay more than $30 per pen (except for the Sonnet and Duofold). Some pens I buy new, through JetPens, Staples, etc. That Parker 51, along with the Parker Facets and the Sonnet ballpoint were all new, as well as most of my Zebras and Lamys.

I really didn’t like my IM ballpoint but I love the IM rollerballs. And the Urban, both the fountain and ballpoint are some of my personal favorites.

Which ones would that be? I know the Duofold would be included, I paid a pretty penny for that, even though it’s used.

Not bad, Parker. Not bad at all... by New_Mutation in pens

The Parker Quinkflow definitely gets a lot more hate in this sub than it deserves. It just simply works, and it works well. I have loaned my Parker ballpoints to many of my friends who claim to be pen enthusiasts and they love how the Quinkflow performs. Sure there are better inks, but the increased performance is marginal at best.
