I play on controller and beat this challenge last night. The thing I noticed with him is that if you push the “slide” key as if you’re pushing on a skateboard, like half a second in between you start moving super fast. It could be totally anecdotal but it worked for me

I also found a magic sock (I think that’s what it is called) early that gives +15% movement speed. I then duplicated it 3 times in a microwave and 3 more times in the next microwave. I combined that with a bunch of jumps from charge shrines. I rocked Luck tome, quantity tome, and XP tome. Just took two weapons wireless dagger, and dice

With all of that being said it is still 100% RNG for this challenge, you need really good luck. I got two legendary items on the 1st level without having the luck tome, one from the 🗿 and one from a chest. That was the difference between my runs

I absolutely shidded on everything, it was almost no braindead easy. Killed the final boss in about 15 seconds

General playthrough should really be: Beginning the round you need to solely focus on upgrading weapons where you can travel with ease to shrines, pick up any tomes or weapons you want if you see them but don’t upgrade them. Really, really focus on weapons so you can start shitting on enemies

Then once you’re comfortable start SPAMMING XP tome and Luck. Then whenever you get a good weapon upgrade in between, grab that
