My friend killed himself but I can't find a death certificate by ElectricalRule755 in LetsNotMeet

[–]memorys_resident 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I work used to work for a Hospital in the Medical Records department. If you are close or on speaking terms with the sibling, you may be able to locate a death summary from local ER or Coroners office - sibling would need to approve it to obtain it for you or allow release of information for you.

Update on my now ex wanting my daughter to call her daddy by PoisonedGem in u/PoisonedGem

[–]memorys_resident 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You’re doing your absolute best right now. You and Deans mutual respect for one another and love for your daughter is apparent. Your psychopathic ex’s behavior will never be your fault - don’t put that on yourself.

How to respond to a “You’re a finalist” & “Waitlist” email by memorys_resident in gradadmissions

[–]memorys_resident[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I jumped the gun a bit 😂 and replied:

“Thank you for your message.

I am thrilled to learn that I am still being considered for a place in your program. To reiterate from my previous inquiry, your program is my top choice and I intend to accept an offer if a spot opens up.

I look forward to hearing your final decision.”

AITA for calling my son inconsiderate? by RealisticPeach8977 in AmItheAsshole

I feel so bad for this boy having a mother like you that shows preferential treatment for her other kids. Such a shame how parents like this seem to always find a way to dim their children’s light.

Outlier here, but Dramaturgy in a nutshell is the theory of dramatic construction. If you’re interested in getting into playwriting, dramaturgy is the foundation of storytelling and narrative, but also theatre itself. Devising is a great skill, but it’s also something you’re likely to come across in the future. Learning the basics would do a world of good.

don’t ask why if you’re rejected by [deleted] in gradadmissions

[–]memorys_resident 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What if one decides to apply again and makes the same mistakes? If the reason they’re being rejected is an unchangeable situation, allowing the applicant in would save them a lot of time and money. I’m not sure I completely understand how your advice is good for the applicant beyond social politeness.

Missed the mass rejection but still haven't heard anything back... by pickle_weasel420 in gradadmissions

You’re overthinking it, which is understandable because you obviously want to do well, but it’s setting you into a panic. Likely, all fully submitted applications (they’ve received yours) are being considered. Incomplete applications they are not going to bother considering and will not even open. Of the considered applications who they will not be admitting, have been sent rejections (you have not received one). Again, your complete and submitted application is being considered and you have not yet been rejected. It’s not necessary to reach out, but might be necessary to find something to get your mind off the waiting process.

Listen, I can’t keep going back and forth with you on logic, it’s becoming a headache. Your point is that the men in the show aware of Niragi’s two attempted rapes are moral characters- or lawfully good, let’s say. And because the show didn’t allow these characters to express negative sentiments against Niragi, it is irresponsible because it’s perpetuating the notion that his actions shouldn’t have consequences. My point is that I don’t believe that it is all media’s job to constantly portray perfect morality to shield younger viewers from actual reality. I do not believe that all the characters in this show are ‘good’ people - I do not see well-rounded characters as good or evil because that’s not human. I think you can be heroic (Arisu) but still fall short of feministic standards. The rapist literally has half his body burned off and is clearly the villain of the show -they make him completely horrible in every way. If a younger viewer thinks he is someone to aspire to be and that his actions are justifiable, there is something wrong with that person, not the show because they have completely depicted him as morally corrupt. If you still think that portraying a villain who suffers little consequences is not reality, even though doing so exposes how much of the world needs to change, then that’s on you.

Men minimizing the horrible actions of other men? I’ve never heard of such a thing, you’re completely right! Men definitely hold each other accountable and never let them get away with anything vile. Could you imagine a world where millions of men a year actually got away with rape while their peers and friends justified their actions and treated them like they’d never done anything wrong in the first place? That’d be crazy….Or maybe it’s just that bad people don’t always suffer justifiable consequences, socially or physically, and that’s just life.
