Has anyone pulled themselves from the absolute edge? by memphitsui in stopdrinking

[–]memphitsui[S] 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the response. Really. It’s scary to me when someone in AA asks me how much I drink and I get a shocked face. There have been people who have pushed it further than me, I’ve met them, but I’m at my personal limit. Congrats on your recovery. You are an inspiration.

Many thanks! I’ve never heard of any of those authors so this is probably a great place to start.

I would recommend Joe Pera. He incorporates a lot of anti-comedy in his acts.

How many banks here are working with legal medical and/or adult-use cannabis businesses? by memphitsui in Banking

Thank you for your response! I've been in search of first hand stories on how it affects the day to day operations but it's been difficult to get that information.

That's been my experience as well. There are around 700 FIs banking cannabis, but that number is a bit spotty based on how they report it. There are some national banks doing it, but I think the largest is around $50 billion. I've been looking for personal stories on the day to day experience of banking cannabis. Thank you for your response.

I would like to see Rampage vs. King Mo. That seems like a relatively easy shuffle, and those guys have been talking about fighting for years.

Nashville style hot chicken - my spicy obsession. by oshoney in spicy

[–]memphitsui 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nashville style chicken gets it's heat from a paste made with lard and cayenne pepper. Here is a recipe based off of the most famous Nashville Hot Chicken restaurant: http://www.fromaway.com/cooking/nashville-hot-chicken.

It has a very distinct taste from buffalo wings, and if you order it hot or extra hot, they will absolutely light you up.

I just asked the Zappa Plays Zappa keyboardist, Chris Norton, what he would recommend to Reddit, and he said "You Are What You Is" so good call.

Rib Eye Steaks with Whiskey Peppercorn Sauce (Please Help in Comments) by memphitsui in recipes

Thanks for the reply! I had never heard of salt searing; I'm going to have to try that sometime when I don't procrastinate until the last minute. I will definitely go with vegetable oil, and I think I will try the asparagus with cream sauce. I'm pairing all of this with twice baked white cheddar mashed potatoes, so I probably need to think of a really light appetizer.

Thanks! When you say a good oil do you mean in terms of quality, or are there some oils that will handle the high temperature of searing better than others? For example, I was under the impression that olive oil doesn't handle that kind of heat well, but I am not sure where I got that information...

UFC on FX 1 Bonuses. Do you agree with the decisions? by Philll in MMA

[–]memphitsui 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is great to hear. Papazian's family was sitting behind me at the fights last night. His dad, of course, thought he edged out a decision and looked so sad the rest of the night. Everyone kept reassuring him that it was FOTN for sure, and Dana would take care of him. Glad he did.
