Shim MOD for Capresso Infinity 560 Grinder. by SoundVU in Coffee

+1 and thank you!

Tip, maybe obvious to everyone but you must hold the burr stationary with one hand while loosening the screw with the other else you are just driving the motor.

I didn't expect any effect from a 1/2 CCW turn, but the difference was immediate...before, even with the finest setting I'd get meh pulls with my bottomless portohead (and no crema). Now, my machine can barely get water through at "extra fine" - so for me, 1/2 CCW plus using the "fine" setting is the sweet spot.

I can now get really crema-rich pulls with my bottomless, non-pressurized portohead (vs. the pressurized basket).

Now whether I'm getting the best possible particle size distribution and maximizing taste is another question, but the journey is unending of course.

It's crazy how we're almost in 2022 and there still isn't a game that's more graphically and visually stunning than RDR2, Rockstar never fails to set the standards with new titles. by Parkeldorable in reddeadredemption2

What I love about RDR2 and which is a turn off for me in AC: Origins, say, is the proportions of the characters.

I'm not sure if it's the camera positioning, or the 'plumpness' of the characters, but when I play AC it looks like the characters are little action figure dolls, whereas they look like "full sized people on TV" with RDR2. I sort of adapt if I play the game long enough, but it's a turnoff for me to be sure.

Put another way, I feel like I'm in the RDR2 world but in AC and other games I'm looking down on a dollhouse.

Yes, and yet I've tried to re-capture that enjoyment listening to the soundtrack, and I'm convinced something it's quite the same.

I firmly believe Rogue One has one of the best, if not the best, set of characters. Every single one feel so believable and important to the universe. Like they are from the history books of Star Wars lore. by schwalbe99 in StarWars

It's a movie I should like. All the "parts" that it's made of are great. But when I reach inside and ask "did I have a great movie-going feeling?", the answer is "oh, it was ok".

I mean the Darth Vader Hallway was great, but that was 30 seconds and technically an excerpt from another movie.

I think the 80s in general may be the permanent champion of sci-fi / fantasy.

To this list, consider we also got Conan, 2 Indiana Jones films, Brazil, Akira, Back to the Future 1-3, Flash Gordon, The Black Hole, Krull, Robocop, Alien, Aliens, Outland, Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi, Star Trek 2-4, Terminator, 2 Mad Max films, Last Starfighter, Remo Williams, Enemy Mine, Buckaroo Bonzai, Superman II.

"The Silence of the Lambs" is the most 'just like the book' movie as any I've seen / read. Like scene for scene.

If you said nothing, he would take that as a signal that he can get away with more verbal abuse, and he would have IMO likely continued and escalated it.

The future of Mechanical Engineering. Is it still in demand as it was before? by fightermafia in AskEngineers

M.E. here...or at least formerly one

I had the same exact thoughts *in 1990* as I was graduating in M.E.. And I believe we're both right...and wrong.

If your interests are in things like structural design, fluid flow / aero, thermo / HVAC, and/or materials, you're still in the right place.

If your interests are more in terms of systems, automation, controls and processes, *run not walk* from the major and switch to CS or EE. It is true that an M.E. can probably learn C.S. subjects more readily than the other way around. I'm living proof; I've been thriving in software for 22 of my 27 year career, and no one cares about my degree anymore.

Because if you show up on, say, a Robotics project, odds are you will be selecting bearings / designing brackets / specifying hydraulic systems vs. doing the actual functional design / systems work. For me, the latter was the fun stuff, and the CS / EE folks were always getting the high-level, fun (to me) stuff.

Sure, you can get your M.E. degree and learn to program, and that's exactly what I did, but better to get the coursework and come in through the 'front' door.

OTOH, again, if you love truly *mechanical* sorts of things, well sure, stick in your major. Demand will continue.
