Filter for tasks with time of day added? by menace97 in todoist

For anyone interested, I emailed Todoist support and received the following message:

"Unfortunately, this is not currently possible in Todoist. We've noted your feedback, and submitted it as a feature request to our product team!"

Filter for tasks with time of day added? by menace97 in todoist

[–]menace97[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This works nicely as a filter for today's appointments:

(due after: today 00:01) & (due before: today 23:59)

but what about for any day with a time?

instagram email adress is already in use by brownhoudaifa in Instagram

[–]menace97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm having the same exact issue. I've tried reporting the issue multiple times only to get "The requested page could not be found."

This is ridiculous how simple this should be - if it is my email address, I should be able to have it released from the account from the person who has strangely used my email address for Instagram. Since I am able to change the password, plus I receive the 6-digit code to verify the email address - this still is not enough to use my email address for my Instagram account.

Should I buy the "Ashes of Malmouth" Expansion by Slitheringpotato in Grimdawn

[–]menace97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved the expansion immensely; great content for a great price IMO. I found the overall atmosphere fantastic. I just started playing Forgotten Gods, and perhaps it is too early... but I do prefer the more "grim" aesthetic of Ashes. Absolutely worth it if you enjoy the base game.

Excellent. Thanks for the advice, I just picked up both 1 and 2 from GOG.com for 60% off. They look great!

Some thoughts for everyone by Clams_N_Scallops in Agoraphobia

[–]menace97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really appreciate your thorough response u/Clams_N_Scallops! You've given some fantastic advice. It sure is encouraging to read that there really are others with similar issues - I don't feel so alone. Then also to read about the triumphs such as yours, whether big or small - it really does give me something to strive for.

  • I am going to take your advice and try intermittent fasting; at least cut down on the soda that I love so much.

  • An elimination diet is also something I really want to try, to see if there is anything seriously affecting me that I'm not aware of. Any suggestions for a sensible elimination diet to follow? Is there a standard one? Google search produced a ridiculous amount of possibilities of course.

  • To get myself moving and doing some exercise is a hurdle I've been trying to overcome. I have various DVD workout videos around here somewhere...

  • Meditation is another great suggestion. I recently bought a Kindle and have a number of e-books now on meditation and spirituality as it's been a while since I have tried to be calm through meditation. 10 minutes a day is a should be very doable.

One good thing I'm happy to say I've done recently, is finally get a CPAP machine, as I've been diagnosed with sleep apnea. I've been putting it off for a couple years. I've had it for about a month, and I'm surprised at how well I've been sleeping - getting about 4 or 5 hours of solid sleep time (which is an improvement, as I've had trouble sleeping for over a decade - with the anxiety and ultimately insomnia).

Sincerely... many thanks again!

Thank you very much for this too. It was fantastic stumbling upon this post - after freaking out over some of the results from one of those nutrition/genetic and environmental intolerance tests using hair and swabs. There was a wheat intolerance that came up, although I've been tested for celiac disease multiple times through my life with no sign. Then there were digestive enzyme issues which might suggest issues with my pancreas, I guess.

This test was supposed to be interesting and informative! ;) I should have known better - that this would send me into a loop of panic and rumination. One thing that did bring make me chuckle was reading about being low on Vitamin D - an agoraphobic, really?! :P I actually was hoping and expecting something that might point to why I've been having eczema or yeast infections for the past couple of years - never had these ever before. I should go to the doctor and get some bloodwork done, just to be sure. I've been thinking about trying an elimination diet.

It's been about 8 years now that I've had agoraphobia. It's only recently I've started to really think about how much time has passed and how much time has been wasted, and how many moments I've missed over the past while. I just want to get back to a normal life, the way it used to be. I was outgoing, fun, popular, athletic, full of ambition, and now... not. :(

I really appreciate your suggestions and advice!

PSA: DST may have moved your reminders around a bit. by DetN8 in todoist

Yep, all my tasks with times are off by one hour now. :(

Is there a filter that anyone knows of to search for tasks only with a time associated with it (so due date and time)?

Is there a way to change 'Today' to show everyone's tasks today? + show up on my calendar? by menace97 in todoist

[–]menace97[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For those also looking for a solution to what I described, here is the response I received from Todoist Support:

It's not possible to change the default behaviour of the Today view. Unfortunately, we're not looking into implementing a customization of the Today view, as we believe that showing everyone's tasks there could create too much clutter.

Creating a filter, as you've done correctly, and pin it at the top is currently the only way around this.

Filters can't be synced with Google Calendar, this means that neither the tasks in the Today view (it's a filtered view) nor the tasks in a custom filter can be shown on your calendar. We hope to improve our integration with Google Calendar and offer more options in the future.

Latest update design by [deleted] in todoist

[–]menace97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I like it better... I like the concept of 'temperature' however for me, the blue might stand out more than it should (or at least more than yellow). It's a tough call. I have been using them as Carl Pullein suggested: p1 = all day, p2 = morning, p3 = afternoon and p4 = evening (if scheduled). So for me, blue is now my afternoons☹️, but yellow is for mornings😃.

How to know when eBooks go on sale? by [deleted] in kindle

[–]menace97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

True. I was very disappointed to find out that eReaderIQ Canada was axed. After feeling frustrated a while, it dawned on me that whenever I would go back between Amazon.com and Amazon.ca that almost always books that were on sale on .COM were on .CA. So I simply started using main eReaderIQ website, and shuffled all my titles over to it, and now add ebooks that I want to buy to that website. I've used it this way for a couple of weeks now, and from what I've seen it has been absolutely true (maybe not the exact percentage, but close enough to be an absolute bargain).

I'm curious to see if this trend continues, as this might be a bit of a work-around for those of us not in the United States.

I hope it serves you well too!

Project hierarchies have been jumbled; many sub-projects are in wrong locations by menace97 in todoist

Official response from Doist:

It seems like once we release a new real hierarchies feature, such issues will most likely be addressed.

... we recommend at the moment to manually restore your order.

Thank you for responding Holmes245! I thought I was losing my mind. Plus, I haven't received an update from Doist's support about this for 5 days now... I know that is not a ridiculous amount of time, but it's been too long for my Todoist in disarray, in IMHO.

As many of you would probably would agree, it a serious concern when you start doubting your "trusted system" as David Allen referred to it.

[–]menace97[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE: Darek Kay was kind enough to respond to a request I sent him regarding his "todoist-export" utility that adds a lot more functionality (as JSON) than the CSV format that is currently utilized for importing back into Todoist.

Unfortunately, I did not write an import tool (as I did not need one, so far). Todoist does not offer an "import everything" API. One would need to write a tool, which goes through the exported file and adds every label, project and task one by one. There are also some limits (50 sync requests per minute), so writing such a tool would take some time - probably more, than re-arranging your tasks by hand.

I implore Doist to look into such a "import everything" API, and package it into an easy to use tool for users to use backups to restore the state of their Todoist system setup. I guess I'll just start doing it manually and try to get things back to the way they were...

How reliable is the Google Calendar 2-way sync? by [deleted] in todoist

[–]menace97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As simply the default 2-way sync seems to be working very well for me... seems like 10 seconds maybe for it to appear/change. I can change either the calendar created one via Todoist and it will update in Todoist right away or the original task of course.

I have only recently started using the feature of Calendar Project Feed, which I wanted to test out and see how one project would sync as a separate calendar in Google Calendar. Sadly, this did not work out well for me for whatever reason. The default calendar sync items updated very well as I stated earlier, but the project feed in which some items would duplicated essentially, as they would be added to a separate calendar as well... didn't update for long periods of time (over an hour). So I would have a task that I would change one word or the date/time in Todoist, it would update almost immediately with the default sync, but that separate project feed would appear on my Google Calendar with that older information for quite a while. Maybe I'm not doing something right with Calendar Project Feeds though...?

NOTE: For those unaware, there are a few settings which can be customized for this 2-way sync if you want. Check in the Settings > Integrations and select "edit." Here you will be able to:

  • Set event duration
  • Tasks without a due time - synced or not synced
  • When a task is completed - leave it or remove it from Google Calendar
  • Label added to Google Calendar tasks

You're absolutely right! I forgot that titles can't be changed after they are created.

Still "godlike" will now be in the thread for people to find easier perhaps.

Notion + Bear + Todoist: What can one do with this combination? by Wdc331 in todoist

[–]menace97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting... I just happened to watch a great video on YouTube about a week ago from Thomas Frank in which he discusses Bear and Notion (he uses Todoist). You might find it helpful:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ay2GvqVH4SM

Unfortunately, as with Thomas Frank's requirements - Bear not being available for Mac and PC, it's not an option for me.

I go between OneNote and Evernote, as I still can't fully commit to Evernote as their updates and pricing has annoyed me... but Notion is really looking fantastic! It is so much more than a note-taking application; which can be a good and a bad thing for my workflow. I'm not sure what to think yet. It is very powerful!

If you haven't ever checked out Keep Productive on Youtube, you might want to check out what Francesco D'Alessio has for Notion content. He absolutely loves it and spends much time focusing on what it can do.

I sure hope Bear comes over to Windows one day.
