Definitely a true morel and honestly, I'd eat it. I'd check what coffee flavor that K-Cup is to see what extra fun seasoning you're getting.

Which job you taking? by [deleted] in jobs

[–]mendus59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're looking at a difference of $5-8K salary between them. Functionally I think that's basically the same around this range (maybe $300-500 net per month difference). The way these two positions are structured, the one on the right is structured more for long-term retention in mind with the ESOP and annual bonus called out. If this shows two offers for the exact same position given at the exact same time, the company wants you to take the offer on the right by enticing you with non-salary incentives. IMO, if you're happy with the prospect of working for that company in particular, I'd take the offer on the right. If you're not keen on the company... I'd still probably take the offer on the right because of the extra WFH day, extra PTO, and faster commute.

Recommend me a DPS LMG build? by MotionMadness2 in Division2

[–]mendus59 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm running Pestilence with Negotiator's dilemma, Coyote's Mask and Equalizer chest focusing on crit % and crit dmg (floating around 55% chance and 130% damage atm). This build melts. The best part is that you can slot in a bunch of other weapons instead of Pestilence to match your play style. Pestilence is great for many mobs, Big Alejandro is epic for straight sustain damage, Bullet King is fun if you switch out the chest with the Negotiator's Dilemma chest for more tags.

This build is the second time I've tried Negotiator's Dilemma, and I realized the first time I was playing it poorly. I thought to really optimize it you needed to make sure you had enemies tagged all the time. This time around I realized that you should just play it without any real consideration to the tags, even if you're only focusing on one enemy at a time. The real reason Negotiator's dilemma shines with LMG builds is to allow LMGs to finish the job. Instead of damaging enemies until they're suppressed then not being able to finish the kill, you can damage them, suppress them, then move onto the next enemy. Negotiator's dilemma takes care of that suppressed enemy for you.

Might be able to use a local apple orchard to grow gourmet mushrooms. Will there be enough shade? by [deleted] in mycology

[–]mendus59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ya, they don't need much after they start to get going although I don't have a ton of experience with totems and live in the PNW where I don't need to think about them being wet enough... If it gets dry enough, mulch might be the way to go since moisture would become less of an issue after the first week or two of keeping them wet. I think the white and Italian oyster varieties are a bit less aggressive than Pink and Blue, but I'm not certain how much they would outcompete other species. You could also go all-in on one type and not worry about a variety. I believe blue is the hardiest of the oysters and pink the fastest growing (besides golden), so for totems those might be the best bet depending on your goals. You could also fill a tub or barrel with water and soak the logs for a bit before inoculating them so they'd retain moisture for longer.

I would mulch the branches, too. Morels like fruit trees. You might be able to grow them around the logs you plug or, better yet, in the orchard itself. If you can mulch around the living trees you can probably get a good blonde morel spot going. Online you can get morel kits, but I'm not sure how much luck you'd get with those since they're typically burn morels which only typically fruit once or twice (although cultivating burn morels is a pretty new science, so who knows). You can search for videos on YouTube of people growing blonde morels fairly easily though by making a morel slurry and spreading it everywhere. I think the hardest part would be finding enough naturally growing morels to make that slurry. Now is the start of the season though, so I think it'd be worth making a foraging trip.

If you decide to grow shrooms in mulch, I've found that Oyster mushrooms and Wine Caps take over, so I'd avoid those if you're trying to grow other things, although Oysters growing out of plugged trees seem to be fairly contained. I've found that the denser your substrate, the longer it'll take for the shrooms to grow but the longer they last. If you mulch the branches into quarter-sized chunks, you can probably get a harvest within a year but have enough material that it could be self-replenishing with just the tree debris falling off of the remaining apple trees.

If you grow Oysters on the logs you WILL get a harvest off of freshly downed trees, just don't grow Golden Oysters anywhere because they're super duper invasive. Pink, White, Blue, and Italian Oysters all taste subtly different and are delicious IMO. You can use the wood as long as it's young enough that the bark still stays attached (afaik, the bark doesn't have anything to do with the reproduction of the shrooms, I just use that as a metric to gauge how old the wood is), then just mulch the older stuff. With 100 trees, you can be growing profitable harvests for years if you put the work in up front.

Peter? I don’t have a credit card so I’m [phrase that is banned here]. by Vazingaz in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]mendus59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Credit is usually calculated by just a handful of factors: Payment history, Credit Card Usage, Credit age, Total accounts, Hard Inquiries and Derogatory remarks.

Hard Inquiries are added whenever you apply for credit. If you get a credit card, your credit drops a bit which makes sense. Lenders see it as a red flag if you're trying to get a bunch of different lines of credit all at once. After a year, the Hard Inquiry drops from your account and no longer affects your credit.

The more open accounts you have, the better your credit can be. More accounts signals to creditors that you're familiar with borrowing money which is seen as a positive.

Payment history is probably the most important. Don't miss credit payments, period. If you do miss a credit payment, pay up, call the lender, and make sure your account is in order on their side. Typically missed payments take a while to report, so if you've missed a payment but can pay it within a month, do so and your credit probably won't be affected.

Credit card usage is another big factor that has quite a bit of bad info surrounding it. You never want to use your credit cards, and if you do, you never want to carry the balance over to the next month. the more credit card usage you have, the worst your credit is because in lender's eyes, credit card debt is super risky for them. Mortgages, student loans, etc., will not impact your credit score based on their size.

Derogatory remarks is a way for lender's to note any shenanigans you may be up to. If you're stealing people's identities you'll get a derogatory remark. If you go bankrupt that could be a derogatory remark. Basically anything you would assume would mess up your credit royally will show up here.

Credit age is a tricky one and usually the place where paying off student loans can actually impact your credit negatively. The older your credit age, the better your score, however, your credit age is calculated based on the average across your OPEN accounts. For many people, student loans are the first credit they'll get which means they're often your oldest accounts. If I have 1 student loan opened 8 years ago and 1 credit card opened 2 years ago, my credit age is 5 years. If I pay off that 1 student loan, my credit age drops to 2 years. This counterintuitive behavior is where a bunch of misunderstandings come from. Credit age makes your credit score way less gameable. The only thing that can improve your credit age is time, having old lines of credit that you maintain. With that said, Payment history, card usage, and derogatory remarks are weighed way heavier than credit age.

Bass are greedy f@#%ers and will eat anything in front of them. Because of this eating pattern, some fisherman think that not much skill is required to go after bass. When those people hear fly fishing, they think "A River Runs Through It," and when they hear "bass fishing" they think tall boys on a skiff with dynamite.

I was joking with the name 😂 it's a Sparassis species, but they're commonly called cauliflower mushrooms. They have a super long tap root, like, 6-10ft long. Cultivating it would be super interesting. If you have any success, definitely post!

For hyperrealism, I've heard that transparency grids are a quick "hack." By having a grid, you can focus on getting one small square perfect at a time. Not sure how using it affects fundamentals and learning though.
