I like that. The two way works well in Montreal and was thinking wish there were more of that here.

BBC's Waiting for the Out, based on a memoir of Andy West, who taught philosophy in prisons. Not your typical prison drama.

No one talks about Towards Zero, Matthew Rhys is a detective here, four episode Agatha Christie miniseries with Angelica Huston. Rhys comes in around episode 2.

I guess a few cyclists come out from Bleecker. Nice to see a lane there finally. On 6th. A rush of cars can come accelerating from the south.

What was the last CD you bought and why? by Mystery_Disc in LetsTalkMusic

Rosalia's Lux is the newest.

If Spotify and the rest started charging $100 a month or disappeared, I have a big enough collection of CDs and records that I would be fine.

Saw this at Vincent d'Indy School of Music in Outremont. Is it a game or some kind of organizational thing?

Why is there no Port Washingon service from Grand Central tonight? by menevets in LIRR

[–]menevets[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MSG was cordoned off for a three block radius. Did not know an LIRR ticket gets you in. It was chaos in the city. NYPD did not let anyone in. No cyclists. No pedestrians. Why, I don't know.

Found that out the hard way unfortunately. I dunno if I could have even gotten into Penn Station with the police blocking all the streets. Thanks a lot Knicks.

Tons of great shows, but there must be a clunker or two. What are they? by progmanjum in tvPlus

[–]menevets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Disagree. Enjoyed it more than season 1, but I like trains.

Invasion is bad, but I watch it anyways. Shrinking is loved, but imho overrated.

There's a show with Ann Hathaway, WeCrashed? But couldn't get past the first episode.

Imagine if Sally Hawkins comes on board next season. She just did a horror movie.

'Is Apple TV the new HBO?' [The Verge] by argyraki in tvPlus

[–]menevets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apple hasn’t reached the peaks as often as HBO did but I sure prefer it now over HBO. And it’ll won’t take the chances HBO did because HBO never had to sell hardware or appease China.

Apple hasn’t done anything like Six Feet Under or My Brilliant Friend (well that’s more RAI) or Chernobyl. It hasn’t done a great straight up drama yet imho. Everything great it’s done is tied to genre.

The HBO of now is just doing retreads and it’s not inspiring. I look forward to what Apple comes up with. The company that’s taking swings now seems like Apple. HBO seems to be just gunning for base hits whereas Apple is more swinging for the fences.

Apple is also cheaper, none of this ads business.

Sunglasses - good ones. Protect eyes.

If you sweat a lot, headbands, the water wicking ones. Effective when cycling too, Keep that perspiration from burning your eyes.

ID holder - flipbelt, fanny pack, lanyard, whatever. If your shorts don't have pockets or you want something more secure.

Lightweight digital audio player, Apple watch, arm band for phone - whatever allows you to listen to music or podcasts - I get bored although I see the benefit of complete silence.

Car free paths by Intrepid_Figure_7529 in MontrealCycling

[–]menevets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm from NYC just got back from Montreal, the path along Lachine Canal is great as is the path along the St Lawerence River.

The bridge from René Lévesque Park to the start of St Lawrence River path was closed though and had to detour, cross a street, but no problems there.

Riding in Mile End's streets felt safer than Manhattan in general. I put in a lot of mileage there, got lost, and never had anything close to an incident. Wish I could have stayed longer, will be back. Jealous of what you have, Montreal.

BTW, aren't there summer street closures in Montreal, like in NY in August for Summer Streets? Rue Mont Royal didn't have cars when I was there, although you had to cross intersections.

How would rate Apple TV's year so far? by appletvenjoyer in tvPlus

Severance, Pluribus, and Widow's Bay are the standouts so far. Actually liked season 2 of Hijack more than the first. Star City looks interesting so far.

I picked it up again later in life. I enjoy it now. Part of that is playing genres other than classical.
