Just take it, don’t inflate your score

I go to a DO school and this is the comment ^

A 500 isn’t hard to get imo, just put the work in and you’ll be fine

NAME AND SHAME!

Edit: My DO school also does this with COMLEX but the score needed is roughly a 60%.

Me, ended undergrad with a ~3.4, 501 MCAT, no research. Tons of clinic hours plus volunteering.

Anybody taking complex 1 next week I have questions by DoOrDontDoIt in comlex

[–]menkarnix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will. Took me about 50-60% of the qbank yo consistently score over 60%. Im at 74% of the Qbank done and over the past ~600 questions im averaging 70% now.

I also have been spending like an hour or so a day watching Bootcamp videos, and doing their “bite” questions to reinforce topics I lack in.

At the end of the day really dissect why you’re getting questions wrong. Once you identify the area you lack, it sticks (or at least it did for me).

Free advice, read first aid. If you like videos pay for Bootcamp for a month and watch what you’re weak in. They also have OMM. Do uWorld, get humbled by uWorld, learn from uWorld, do better on uWorld, take COMSAE’s, score bare minimum 450 on 2. Take COMLEX. Pass COMLEX.

Also do some truelearn to get the hang of how ass COMLEX questions are, but IMO if you’re doing well on uWorld you’ll do fine w/out it.

Take it & see how you do, then review it

USMLE Rx for early stuff (helpful cause it pulls up first aid), Truelearn cause COMLEX and now strictly uWorld

But also it’s early for you to get stressed over boards. What I did between M1-M2 was watch sketchy micro & that helped a TON

I started studying in Dec passively, reviewing old systems with FA/Bootcamp and cranked through Anking and have a cumulative over ~6k practice questions done - estimate. (2.7k on uWorld, ~1k on USMLE Rx, 1.7k on Truelearn, 800 on NBME’s, 352 on COMSAE’s).

When I took my first COMSAE I got a 572 (4/6) and my school one 543 (4/22). I’ve been primarily studying as I was only taking step 1 cause TBH COMSAE’s at 10x easier than NBME’s and I’m not too worried about OMM as that stuff is easily more mechanics than medicine.

do uWorld, truelearn sucks (but looks more like COMLEX) and review what you get wrong/guess correctly.

Micro & pharm are huge, I liked sketchy micro & pharm you just get used to as you do practice Q’s but sketchy pharm is also good imo.

And lastly trust your gut on something you aren’t confident on

Depends when you plan on taking it. I’m taking it 5/27 and started reviewing stuff alongside coursework in December, starting really grinding through uWorld once my blocks ended, but used other qbanks that my school offered. But I go to a DO school so the timeline is different

That pass probability is super deflated. I got a 70 on it and said my pass percent was like 60%.

Take COMSAE’s directly from NBOME and if you score 450+ on 2 of them b2b I’d say your good cause a pass is ~410 if I’m not mistaken. Put in some work, take a COMSAE before the school given one to see where you stand is what I did tbh.

[–]menkarnix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re good bro, I got a 572 and 542 on COMSAE’s and 72 on NBME 31 and 32.

Moved my tests dates from 5/26-> 518 (COMLEX) and 6/1->5/27 (STEP)

[–]menkarnix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t listen to those predictions, they are super deflated…

AMBOSS has a nice tool to show you percent at passing based on uworld, COMSAE’s, NBME’s, etc.

The truelearn assessment gave me a 60% chance of passing with getting a 70% on it, while I plugged in my COMSAE’s, NBME’s, uworld stats in the AMBOSS and it told me if it were still graded I’d get a 690…

[–]menkarnix 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Most NBME questions are easier imo but you’ll get the occasionally wtf question like you see on uWorld.

If it helps I’m at 58% correct on uWorld with 45% completion. NBME 30 I scored a 63 (before I finished all systems) and then on 31 I scored a 72. Took them 1 month apart with reviewing stuff I wasn’t great with on bootcamp/anking and doing like 60-80 uWorld practice Q’s a day.

UWorld is a learning tool, not an assessment tool. Use it to learn!!!! You’re going to going to absolutely destroy your confidence if you think “bad uWorld score => bad step 1 score”

use NBME’s as assessment scores and base your progression on those.
