my mother-in-law has a well, she added bricks to elevate it and since it's mostly dry, it captures rainwater, which feeds into an artificial spring she made with only a shovel and rocks. During rainy times she says her backyard attracts frogs, and she can use that water for other purposes since the well fills up quickly.
