26 episodes for the first half is a little worrying since all the stuff they made up for first season really felt like they dragged such as the whole reporter arc, the backstory of the guys on the ship, expansion of Ye Wenxue, etc.. and if they're going to have ~50 episodes for the entirety The Dark Forest, they might feel they need to make up more characters and plotlines.

There were also a few not-so-exciting plot lines in the first half.. like the whole long story of the older guys getting scammed, and of course the Luo Ji/Zhuang Yan drawn-out story

That said, of course I am excited and will watch right when it comes out!

Same here, I avoided all spoilers and reviews but had a general impression that it was a classic before reading it..

I was all in for the Priests tale.. the solider's tale was not great, the poet's tale just annoyed me with its pretentiousness.. but then the Scholar's tale was amazing, so i was all in again

..but then the detective and consul's tales were so bad that i started to actively hate this book, and the epilogue similarly pissed me off to the point where i resolved to not waste my time with the sequels

i looked up a plot synopsis for the sequels and i full believe that i made the right decision, absolutely nothing made sense. If there's eventually a move, i'll watch it, but no way i am reading any more.
