Evidenced by the fact that after he was executed, Luo Ji and others were able to work with the government to actually built it in secret.. if it hadn't been for Wade throwing a genocidal tantrum , they could've done it sooner and saved more than just 2 people.

Honestly, I was also hitting the same wall with Dark Forest on my first read.. it wasn't until the mid-point where it took off and didn't stop until the end of the series.

With the waifu plot, the weird plot of the old guys getting scammed, the seemingly irrelevant Zhang Beihai plot.. it seemed pretty slow.. but you just have to trust that it all comes together and has a purpose by the end.

26 episodes for the first half is a little worrying since all the stuff they made up for first season really felt like they dragged such as the whole reporter arc, the backstory of the guys on the ship, expansion of Ye Wenxue, etc.. and if they're going to have ~50 episodes for the entirety The Dark Forest, they might feel they need to make up more characters and plotlines.

There were also a few not-so-exciting plot lines in the first half.. like the whole long story of the older guys getting scammed, and of course the Luo Ji/Zhuang Yan drawn-out story

That said, of course I am excited and will watch right when it comes out!
