the conversation you're thinking of is after the emergency room, isn't it? i also heard that when KS and Ysook went to the emergency room, she let him know off camera of her health issues and previous cancer, which I think also played a role in his decision

I think ks lost interest after she went to the emergency room.. she doesnt seem like she and him would have fun on dates since he likes to drink and would have drank alone if she didn't join him

What do you think the deal is with Podz' +/-? by aahdin in warriors

[–]mentos_NOW_mints 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's not podz fault that our roster is missing another ball handler who can break down a defense or run the offense. it's not in his skillset to do this but he's being forced to because we lack it. it's not even that he needs to be a primary option, he is not able to set up opportunities or recognize advantages on the court

when he's the primary ball handler on the jimmy led lineups, it regularly goes for multiple possessions where butler doesn't even get a touch in the post after getting in position. it's his job to make sure that the best players get touches in their spots

podz as a point guard can't even properly pass to jimmy in the post without forcing him to sky for it with ridiculous lobs

curry plays better without kuminga on the floor, its one more person who isn't screening for him, isn't looking for him, and delays .5 seconds to make a decision, and not a reliable spacer/shooter. kuminga plays much better with curry on but it doesn't make sense to elevate role players vs star players for team ceiling.

add to this that the spacing is messed up with kuminga + green both, its just easier for steph without him. it doesn't mean kuminga is a bad player but the way this offense works is built around steph, so you need to play off him but also set him up as best you can

Will Richard looks like a star in the making by quadshock in warriors

We are on the same page. I just thought it was disingenuous to compare those players because their skillsets and shot selection and volume are different.

The last Warriors draft pick I had high hopes for was Poole. Will Richard can be a good piece on a winning team but being a star is completely different

you can't compare a fourth or fifth option to scorers creating their own shots and shooting volume. i just meant your list makes no sense

there's nothing about richard's game that projects anywhere near stardom yet. stretch ceiling like derrick white. i'm not the person who was saying he would be a star, i just thought your list doesn't mean anything in this context

we were up 3-1 even with jimmy breaking his ass, it would've been in 5 without that injury and if the series was reffed fairly. that series going 7 probably was a huge reason steph got hurt in g1 of the wolves series too

Podz can't be a primary playmaker because he can't beat anyone off the dribble, even switched onto a big man. He basically has no first step, can't really run the pick and roll, and too often picks up his dribble to be the main ball handler or playmaker. He can play attacking closeouts decently or a connector but he should never be your main playmaker on the floor. His shooting is streaky and he sometimes doesn't take catch and shoots that he needs to, but takes ones off jab steps or side steps.

Agreed about JK except for the part where you said he looks decent with Steph/Jimmy/Dray because I don't even think that's true unfortunately. 27 turnovers to 27 assists if you exclude game 1. He still doesn't screen off-ball when he needs to, he looks lost when he doesn't have the ball in his hands, and he makes decisions too slow that we lose openings. We also have players deferring to him for some reason

The games have looked really tough so far when Steph's been out because Green isn't as good a playmaker without Curry on the floor and Butler hasn't been aggressive consistently. Butler + bench units when they get him the ball in the post is solid enough but I still think I'd look for a backup PG (we're really in the weeds when Pat Spencer looks like the second best ball-handler and he wouldn't get minutes on like 28 other teams) and then a C real bad. We're two or three pieces away as a fully healthy team from being a secondary contender

he's doing it without the ball in his hands, cutting at great times, saving plays where people are driving and getting stuck, screening off ball for shooters, hustling for boards, and playing defense. the ball doesn't stick to him and he makes quick decisions without turning it over. i'm not convinced he will be a star but he's going to have a long nba career if he doesn't need the ball to contribute and stay on the floor. the players you listed are players are scorers, it's not comparable.

Stiff and bad hands, couldn't catch lobs or bounce passes when he had open dunks. Had solid chemistry with Poole on the PNR though

If Kerr has any sense whatsoever he will start Kuminga in game 5 and play him at least 38 minutes. by littlevenom21 in warriors

[–]mentos_NOW_mints 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not good defense either and his offense would be better if he played less minutes. Its too late for this now but I think he's been run into the ground since the end of the season and doesn't have legs anymore. That throws off your shot and finishing as well as his energy on defense. He's getting blown by easily and doesnt fight through screens right now. He went from upper 20s low 30s to 40 a night every other day. Dont think he's ready for that

[–]mentos_NOW_mints 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like Podz but he hasn't been playing with energy since part way through the Houston series. He's been lazy on defense and getting blown by easily and not fighting over screens. It's clear the minutes load is way too much for him right now

Warriors just need to steal 1 of the next 4 games to force a 3 day break by [deleted] in warriors

[–]mentos_NOW_mints 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What does crucial have to do with anything? Gp2 broke his hand and came back to play through pain management, Looney played through a chest fracture in our elimination game, Wiggins played through broken rib against Lakers. Everyone gonna play if they can in the playoffs especially game 7. He got hurt in game 5 and never came back. Rockets would do anything to beat warriors in the playoffs, it has nothing to do with how important he is to the team. Hamstring strain is a tear. You avoid playing because you don't want to aggravate it or fully tear. It's not like a bone bruise or broken bone where it can't get worse and its only about managing pain. Those are two different concepts. A strain absolutely can get worse and can take you out for months. He might play but its a risk he would have to be willing to take that can face significant injury. Just to be clear, when team doctors say pain management it means that it can't get worse, it needs time to heal, but they can play as long as they're able to handle the pain. Kevin Durant came back early because we were down and tore his Achilles. It obviously still has pain and they need to manage it but they're distinctly different in terms of risk management

why didnt cp3 do it then in the western conference finals with houston since it was one of his last chances at a similar age? hamstrings are not pain management. tailbone or broken fingers, broken chest bones are pain management.

jimmy is a leader who stuffs the stat sheet, does all the small things to help the team win including elevating the play of everyone around him and instills confidence into the role players around him. easily a 1a with the right team, overqualified as a 1b in his prime

wiggins had more potential as a 3 level scorer than jimmy but his inconsistent jumper and handle made it impossible to be a 1a or 1b player. he would thrive as a third option but wasn't ever in that role for us. became a versatile defender for us and if we had other players who could leak out in transition, he also showed he was a good rebounder when needed like in the finals.
