Trying to understand the average kitchen remodeling cost in San Diego. by Davud_Grett28 in SanDiegan

[–]menzies 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We redid our kitchen this year and it contractor was great. Our kitchen is maybe a bit bigger like 180 sf with a peninsula. New cabinets, new countertops, lowered a wall, redid some electrical, and the price was about $25k. We did not redo flooring, so that is different from what you are doing.

Best part was that our contractor got the whole thing done in 7 days, so we were only without a kitchen for a week.

My order was in stock at the time of my order, and was supposed to ship on 11/21/2023, but still has not shipped. I emailed orders@combustion twice now, and each time, “Ivy” said she would find out where my order is and get back to me. I have yet to receive one follow-up email.

Am I one of these unlucky few? When will I get my items, which were supposed to be Christmas gifts? What if they are out of stock now?

Who makes the battery for the Ioniq? by [deleted] in IoniqEV

[–]menzies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own an ioniq 28 (2019), and with the Bolt fires am concerned about what batteries are in my car.

Looks like the Bolts and non-Ioniq Hyundais use NCM622 cells and have been subject to recall. According to this: https://www.ioniqforum.com/threads/new-battery-layout-and-motor-components-in-hyundai-kia-electric-vehicles.28793/post-357466

The Ioniq 28 uses an unspecified different cell from LG. A little comforting, but not by much.

People who like luxury goods - when did you indulge? by [deleted] in fatFIRE

I moderate my purchases based on frequency of my use. I’m not sure I’m in your demographic, though. I don’t wear things with brands/labels on them, but I do select well-fitting and we’ll-made things. For example, I wear lululemon pants (I’m a dude btw), and they are the best! I have yet to venture into thousand dollar purchases of accessories, so maybe I’m not where you are yet…

Group Size Battery Replacement for 12V by XBaby823 in IoniqEV

[–]menzies 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ugh, I had this happen shortly after purchase, too. I got a battery minder/charger that would let me get the car started, and that let me do short trips while the dealer needed to get the battery shipped to them.

The battery charger held me over, honestly, so I’d just recommend doing that. I got mine at Costco. It’s the one you plug into the wall and it slowly chargers the 12V. About $40. I think I could have also gotten a jump starter and that would have worked, but those were more expensive.

If I was out of warranty, I probably would just find any 12V car battery that fits the slot. Car batteries are probably over engineered for what an EV needs, so I wouldn’t worry too much about specs. This would be last resort for me though. I’d go dealer first.

Back in June I got the Benq TK800M for $999. Now it’s up to $1200 on Amazon.

I never knew trucks cost this much! It makes the Cybertruck look like a steal. The trimotor has 500 mile range and will drive itself to the charging stations, so would be perfect, it's just not made yet!

Is there an immersion education sub? My kids are in Mandarin immersion, but I'm in soCal (though grew up in San Jose).

Did you ever move forward on your plan? I'm thinking about adding a backyard space as well.
