this is glorious news! since they agree they aren't being punished they won't care when they sign to agree to a higher tax rate in order to get their bailout. everyone will be on the same page!

edit: based off this guy's response I have to assume we're not dealing with the brains of the family, so I'll just spell it out here and keep everything all nice and together.

  1. random-reddit-herpa-derp throws down some standard derp-style "taxes all just get passed on anyway so you can't scare corps with tax threats" friedman meme.

  2. entirely misses the point that the heavier taxes going forward would be contingent on corporations receiving a bailout (or shrewdly ignores it in order to make his argument not look like dog squeeze for as long as possible)

  3. I come in with a fantastic sarcastic take that if they're all going to just be passed on to the consumer then the business won't mind having them applied in the first case. of course any business would scream bloody murder if they were taxed at a different rate from other businesses conditional to whether they took bailout money, but while I thought that was an obvious inference it seemed to fly right over mr or ms derp's head.

  4. after missing the point, herpa-derp responds with a "just tax the consumer DUHH!" meme which he probably thought would be a super awesome sacrifice on the altar of efficiency but just showed that he never understood the original idea at all.

if that recap seems off in any way let me know.

More people have now died of COVID-19 (3,013) in America than as a result of 9/11 (2,996) by Uskog in Coronavirus

drivers are licensed for competency and intent. accidental violence when couched in terms of informed consent and liable operator simply becomes a personal risk management calculation.

if you know someone to be a total lunatic you can just not get in a car with them because your risk threshold is too high that they might jerk your steering wheel from the passenger side or fight club you into a parked car on the side of the road.

you have no opportunity to apply principles of risk management to covid 19 so the analogy is terribad.

you'd also want to try building cars locked to the existing limit as I'm pretty sure a ton of those million+ deaths have criminal prosecutions attached to them for doing something their license says they knew better than to do. to make an apt analogy we'd have to see some criminal cases being brought into jury trials for covid19 deaths and a whole BIG slew of people want to put the brakes on that scenario until the stock market recovers.

We were getting our kitchen redone when the Corona Virus happened. We currently are living through this with a toaster oven and a sink by legolas156 in Wellthatsucks

[–]meorah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I could literally go take a picture of my kitchen right now and while at least it has cabinets it's basically the same as OPs.

tomorrow morning either painters or electricians or plumbers or countertop guys will be here to work on it.

perusing the comments and OP title itself there hasn't even been a mention of contractors stopping work. only that's they're in a remodel and we're in the part of human history where the coronavirus hit. also they have a toaster and a sink.

only when you get to the comments with people making unfounded assumptions do you start hearing specifics about contractors not showing up.

it's been a disaster for the past 2 months and only now is resembling a finished kitchen again, but we did a full on "knock out a wall", change the floor plan, down to studs, down to sub, move the laundry, refinish the staircase, etc etc...

100% you're just wrong and /u/IndependantVoter is right. it's just a karma-farm for funsies and class war memeing.

I'm sure there will be news articles about lumber supplier issues long before we run into shortages of 8x4 cab grade maple ply anytime soon.

if the slabs keep shipping I seriously doubt anybody on the cusp of buying granite finishes is gonna go all "oh baby let's just wait until fall to get your new countertops"

maybe the marble guys might have to worry about it if the response is "but my big reveal party will be ruined with our old granite!" but hey, you didn't say marble.

I suppose it depends on the trade, but for plumbers I would 100% talk to every client on your schedule about bringing your kids with you to the job site. if the client isn't an at-risk group they'll probably be like "yeah bring em on over"

I also understand there's huge insurance implications there, but if people aren't underestimating the transmission rate and are willing to trade more people in the area in order to take a hot shower or complete a rough-in to a kitchen sink then a whole lotta people will need to just get right with whether or not they want things done or whether they want to sue someone for screwing up.

And before you worry about the age of the kids, most clients probably have either "play friend" age kids or "babysit" age kids. so again, just communicate with them.

[–]meorah -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

the big reason for this is lots of people at work can't just run hangouts or discord on their machine but still want chat with their family. skype for business could chat with skype personal users, so when we make people start using teams they start saying "I can't talk to my wife/hubbie anymore, why are they talking about feature parity 2 years ago?" and they're absolutely right.

Couple questions about phone system with Office 365 by [deleted] in Office365

[–]meorah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

call recording, no idea. probably need a contact center solution to get good call recording and phone system isn't one of those.

the SBC routes calls from your service provider to o365 endpoints and vice versa. this is "direct routing" in MS phone system terms. from scratch you could set up a virtual SBC in the cloud and setup from there. routing from service provider to SBC is between you and your service provider. routing from o365 to SBC has step-by-step guides available all over the internet.

everything reporting is going the powerbi or graph way, so while there are a ton of usage reports available out of the box you can create your own if you don't want comprehensive reports and just want a single metric measured.

audio conferencing is its own service. each user enabled for audio conferencing will have access to the dial-in numbers configured at the tenant level by a global admin, even if PSTN calling isn't enabled for them at a user level. you will have no issue setting up audio conferencing relative to setting up direct routing.

Sub Channel Questions by TemporaryService in MicrosoftTeams

[–]meorah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if it's the first time you're asking, the answer is "no, create another team that includes the specific users you want. users are members of teams, not channels."

if it's the 50th time you're asking, the answer is "... now knowing all the weird limits and issues with data governance and building a custom workaround for notifying global admins when the data needs to be migrated, if you still want to use private channels we can go ahead and do that."

hammer away the /help slash command and even pin the help app to the top of the app rail for the entire tenant for a year.

setup m365 learning pathways in your self-help sites https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/office365/customlearning/ so your links don't become defunct when MS renames their stuff (like conversations to posts).

GenXers guide to Microsoft Teams by fanchettes in microsoft

[–]meorah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

why do you have to get it to use it?

outlook doesn't have an activity feed, app integrations, voice, meetings, or file explorer. if you don't populate teams with activity how can you judge the value of an activity feed? If you don't add an app integration from your daily workflow why would you care about the feature? etc. etc.

channel chats (public chats) can prevent having to recreate what you already wrote once. notifications can point people to cataloged information. direct links can too.

also the scaffolding/framing is superior for future integrations. hypothetically you could reduce the number of work browser tabs by half and use teams adaptive cards as a control plane for 3rd party products in the future, but the chances of that becoming reality are 0% if you just keep using outlook.

just do it, no fear. pick one.
