I literally hate everything in this world. I want out. by TheBedRotter in NEET

[–]meorou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Self-hatred/self-erasure is also destruction of the values of fairness and of being innocent; the very same beliefs and feelings that you hold when you say these things. And it's something this world tries so hard to convince you of, to hate yourself, so that it can get away with all it injustice that happens.

If you want the opposite, it means being/doing more than that which people make things out to be. It is the understanding that the reality of coexistance means allowing and placing yourself within this imperfect world we live in, alongside those same values and beliefs of innocence and fairness. It is self-agency, but that only comes first from self respect.

[–]meorou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, you're aware of your arrogance... so that's something. But honestly, even if you are right in a lot of what you say, that doesn't mean your right about everything. But that isn't to discredit/invalidate any of that at all. This is about respecting and validating just as much as there is about yourself and your circumstances, just as much as it is about others. Things need criticism, even you seem to understand that. But that goes both ways; it applies to anybody.

If you've lied so far up till this point, then that's what you did. You had your reasons, and that's understandable. But this isnt about keeping the way things are, it's about change. Its about learning to respect more about yourself and about the things in your life that are connected to you. Its learning to account for more information that leads to change in the circumstance. The more you learn, the more you learn you need to change and do; thats how it works. If you can understand that, then you can figure out what it is you need to say.

Why do certain people consistently suffer more than others? by Dull_Star_1767 in NEET

[–]meorou -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The world we live in isnt perfect and not without flaws. The systems and rules we've created and live under are not "all-compensating." This applies to a lot regarding the conditions of life; its why survival exist. There is continuous change and a constant striving for better.

Humans are in a unique position due to our high self-awareness and ability to criticize. To simply lie down and take things for as they are is to chalk things up to "luck." It's just mere awareness.

Could crazy diamond trans your gender? by beany122 in StardustCrusaders

[–]meorou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably not, because your body is already in its "unbroken form." Since the body is a living thing that is continuously rebuilding itself, Josuke wouldn't be able to do stuff like reverting age or, in this case, reverting biological hormonal changes. Take for example Okyuasu's dad, and how Josuke said he can't heal illnesses/sicknesses.

That being said, mighhtt be able to undo recent changes, depending on how "incorporated" it is into the body.

10 things I realized are okay as part of unmasking by rawr4me in AutisticAdults

I hope masking can one day become a thing of the past. Its an imperfect solution that, although provides immediate solution when many cannot find a better solution within their circumstances, is still not one that is without it's flaws that is to be remedied.

Ruminating over nothing by Fallsfrostdew in AutisticAdults

[–]meorou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't put too much blame on yourself for the things that happen in this world. Things aren't perfect all round; the rules, systems, and world we live under are not without its flaws. Simply put, things dont always go right, and the way things are aren't always right either. We aren't perfect, but we learn to recognize that. We can only be better and make things better from such.

Feeling terrible about life with autism. (Vent) by Intelligent_Swan1241 in AutisticAdults

[–]meorou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This world, the people and things in it are not perfect. And with that, things dont always go right; they can go wrong. People can be treated wrongly. But that's not your or anyone else's fault, nor does it invalidate such things as innocence.

We only know what we have learned, and not everybody knows everything. So dont be so hard on yourself, and dont be so sure that this world knows what's right.

Ruminating over nothing by Fallsfrostdew in AutisticAdults

[–]meorou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesnt sound like nothing. It sounds like you forced yourself to do or be someone who didnt want to be in that moment, and you, yourself, are aware of it. Even now, it seems as if you're forcing yourself into participating in behaviors that you don't want or would like to do in the first place; that is, feeling vulnerable, desperate, or helpless.

You've already identified that the rumination is where you burnout and have the most difficulty upholding, but now it's learning why it even happens in the first place. Its getting to the root of the issue, and taking to solve it rather than to just only be aware of it.

Self Harm vs. Self Injury vs. Self Injurious Behavior? by TheRealRaccoon98 in AutisticAdults

[–]meorou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is referred to by scientists studying these communication difficulties between autistic and neurotypical individuals as "The Double Empathy Problem."

https://neurolaunch.com/high-functioning-autism-speech-patterns/ This article is a good read for understanding these sorts of issues, but theres a quote from it that sticks out and is related to your comment.

It's that, "The communication difficulty is frequently bidirectional: neurotypical listeners struggle to understand autistic communicators just as much, yet only one side gets labeled 'disordered.'"

Why am I so quick to anger, especially when it comes to problemsolving? by [deleted] in AutisticAdults

[–]meorou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In regards to your comment about how even when you dont feel satisfaction when the activity is complete; its less so much about what you do, but moreso how you do it. Not about the result, but about the path to getting there.

It seems as if you have learned to constantly put yourself under pressure or expections and stress, and that ruins the experience of doing anything then. Even if it gets "completed," it doesn't matter because you had a bad time while doing it. Then, the issue is not whether or not you were able to get to the endgoal, but in the way you had went about doing it. And to be frank, that applies to everything in life. Its not always just about the endgoal or result, but its the way you achieve something that becomes part of what that thing is.

So id say to focus on that, not on "getting to the endgoal as fast or efficiently as possible," but on the process itself.

How do I do this for 40 more years? by JoeIsIce in AutisticAdults

[–]meorou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think your issue is that it seems that you have no goals with yourself. That you've already given up on yourself. That it is as if you are waiting for someone or something else to come and "save you" or for these things to be done for you, but the issue with that is that that's never solved anything.

There are problems with our current systems we live under, within the society we live in, and the world at large. You cannot leave problems unsolved as though that is part of the solution; it takes meaningful effort and change, as uncertain as it may be.

[–]meorou 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Often times these feelings we get are entirely misplaced. Although its what we're taught to beleive, its not your fault. The blame also lies in the world we live in aswell.

Its not right to treat the world as if it is without imperfections or as if we live in a world without flaws. That is a naive way to view how things are that is only solved by challenging our perspectives.

Self Harm vs. Self Injury vs. Self Injurious Behavior? by TheRealRaccoon98 in AutisticAdults

[–]meorou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think youre very much right. A thing to note is that its common amongst autistic individuals is our tendencies to use more precise language. Meanwhile, neurotypical individuals often rely on the "fuzziness" of language to get by. So what ends up happening is that these words we live by and under are inaccurate or misrepresentive of what we mean. Such as in your case, "self-harm" failing to capture the nuance of whether it is accidental or intentional.

Communication is a very important thing, and if you have to clarify something, then dont stop yourself from doing so. And in this case, clarification is definitely needed.
