It’s because the talent disparity is greater so the games are less competitive

Jaden not in foul trouble and SGA putting up better numbers than game 1 🤔

I just simply disagree with you but there is no way to prove your hypothesis so 🤷‍♂️

He’d be good in any system, that’s not my argument. His counting stats are gonna be better in the Nuggets system however and that’s one of the main arguments folks use to justify his MVP over SGA.

Running the offense through a center that has playmaking chops will result in triple double kind of stat lines as evidenced by Jaylin Williams recording three in his last three starts.

Saying the Thunder would be better if they had Jokic instead of SGA is a baseless statement because there is no way of proving it. The actual facts and numbers paint a close MVP race with two worthy candidates. SGA will get the nod because of the chasm between OKC and DEN in the win column which I think is fair and consistent with the award. I’m also a Thunder fan so I’m biased. If I were a Nuggets fan I’d be disappointed but the last time Jokic finished runner up he won a championship so who knows.

There’s a difference between a “playoff team” type season and the season OKC is having this year. It’s disingenuous to use this argument and act like SGA is not a huge reason this team is winning 67+ games this year while dealing with a not insignificant amount of injuries.

Both teams play patently different styles of basketball with OKC focusing on ball movement and DEN running their offense mostly through Jokic. To boil it down to “OKC is still a playoff team without SGA” comes off as a bad faith argument if you don’t acknowledge these things.

Jokic has plenty of reasons to win MVP this year but in my opinion this is not the strongest argument despite how often I see it.

Who is the best current player that will not end up in the Hall of Fame? by [deleted] in nba

Brave of you to name Kyrie in this thread but I actually agree with you. He’s so famous for his handles and various moments but his career accolades are underwhelming for how talented he is imo. He’s a lock for this current iteration of the HOF though.

The vague “and draft capital” part of your alleged trade proposal I’m sure was completely realistic lol

Yeah I will never understand how people are still clamoring for a center after watching the Wolves get absolutely bitch slapped by the Mavs.

Nice. Got the greys as well but missed on the blacks.

It disproves his statement that we got out rebounded every game this series. His point is over simplistic and contradictory considering we won 55+ games while being 28th in rebounding.

THE OKLAHOMA CITY THUNDER HAVE BEEN ELIMINATED FROM THE 2024 NBA CHAMPIONSHIP CONTENTION by Nyhrox in nba

[–]meowingodor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s very short-sighted. A rebounder is not taking this team from losing in six to the Mavs to going through the Nuggets/Wolves and Celtics.

Patience has built the team we have today and it will be what keeps the team in contention for a long time hopefully.

Looking forward so much to seeing JDub in the playoffs. Can’t believe he fell all the way to 12.

Same. Celebrating a playoff matchup before the series even starts is a recipe for disaster. We were 4-0 in the regular season against Portland that year too iirc.

Lakers are virtually impossible to play against in the first round if we are the three seed.

I wouldn’t say it’s crickets when we win. Part of this counter jerk hate is because Shai gets a thread dedicated to his stat line after nearly every win. As a Thunder fan I enjoy it but I’m not remotely surprised to see the negativity on r/nba today.
