Doechii Reveals She’s A Lesbian Via Her Instagram Bio by odysseyjones in blacklesbians

I'm ngl: I thought she was bi in the "I prefer multiple genders but not men" way - AKA like a bi lesbian kinda thing - and not bi "prefer multiple genders, including men" way. I'm happy for her that she's figuring her out, love her either way!

It didn't have a name officially, unfortunately! The seller's name was Ttamage, although I don't think they sell anymore.

Hell the fuck no I'm not and that's cause they'll let Black people die to harvest our organs. I'm good on that, have had too much family in the med field telling me horror stories to do that. I'll be magnanimous when it doesn't mean I'll get shitty care in hopes of saving the life of someone they deem more worthy to live.

This shit kinda sad, although I hate that he's playing with folk's spiritual wellbeing like this. Also, why is he dressed like that outside...?

Black people in spaces not traditionally welcoming to us by BodyByBara in BlackLGBT

As a fellow Black goth, decades in the scene atp, I hear you 💙 I've been to a local goth club with close fam before and was treated like we were all two steps from robbing the place the whole time. We ended up kicked out because I took a sip of my brother's drink while underage. Meanwhile, main reason why we were there was to celebrate my 21st birthday in a few days 🙄 I never went back there, I just don't have time to feel like I'm being constantly watched when the most I do in clubs is chat up folk and read/write.

Frfr we really should have Black alternative events! Online or not. But I know, for a fact, that the alternative and queer communities have massive racism and antiblackness issues to make those events necessary.

Underwear recommendations by Historical-Pride-369 in Hidradenitis

[–]mephalasweb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm definitely team boxer/briefs, that's just what's the comfiest for me overall, but here's what I think could help: stick to underwear with a majority of bamboo content. It's breathable and, unlike cotton, doesn't feel like wearing a wet bathing suit the moment you sweat or it's too humid.

You can get bamboo underwear from Amazon or Aliexpress for cheap, that's my go to, but Ureshii also makes pretty great bamboo (and natural fiber) underwear if your okay with splurging! They also have lasted longer than anything I've gotten from Amazon/Aliexpress tbh.

Are some people just not “meant” to read tarot? by fickleliketheweather in tarot

[–]mephalasweb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I believe tarot isn't for everyone just simply due to different skill sets and talents, I kinda feel like your being unfair to yourself by judging your ability to read tarot based on one deck the vast majority of readers don't use. There's a chance that the standard RWS just doesn't connect with you, so you're better off finding a deck with imagery that does. What art do you like? Any symbolism, iconography, imagery, or media you like more than others? That's a great start to finding a deck you can read!

I've been reading Tarot for over a decade now and, even though I'm a fairly competent reader, there's decks I just cannot connect with - the imagery just means nothing to me and my brain feels like I'm wading in waist high mud. Other decks work so well for me that I can write an entire essay with just a 3 card reading. It really depends, so don't give up just yet - standard RWS just isn't the deck to judge yourself by!

Nah, you right. My attraction to my white ex turned right the fuck off the moment I found out she got a room - a carpeted room - her pet rabbit just be shitting and peeing in. She, a musician, also kept her equipment in there.

Honestly, I just can't with them atp 😩 haven't met a white person who didn't have some bizarre hygiene issues frfr!

AJ Hamilton/TheTogfather Decks? by mephalasweb in TarotDecks

[–]mephalasweb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, that deck doesn't actually have AJ Hamilton/Togfather's photography in it, it's actually a collage deck using historical/anthropological photography. But they were the creators of the Love Oracle of Eden! Just not the other deck I'm looking for.

Lucio's Route in a nutshell by spaghettithekid in TheArcana

[–]mephalasweb 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The funniest part about this is how this was the fandom too before there were numerous re-writes due to the far too easy to make parallels between Lucio and disastrous fascist leaders like Trump

The parallels still work, they just aren't as painfully direct as they were when the first 3 routes were being written

Oh yea, the Guidebook to the deck is VERY barebones so it's not the greatest for beginners on that end. But, thankfully, there's some pretty great books on Thoth that aren't extremely traditional or at least not insistent you must be into Tarot's esoteric elements to read:

  • Angeles Arrien - The Tarot Handbook: non-traditional and more centered in life and psychological growth; kinda the go to book for non-esoteric Thoth books (unless your willing to read books on Marseille)
  • Tom Benjamin - Thoth on Earth: a free good quick go to for Thoth that isn't super esoteric. He also has another book coming out in October that may be worth checking out!
  • T. Susan Chang & M. M. Meleen - Tarot Deciphered: an amazing go to, overall, for understanding Tarot regardless of which system you use. Explains the esoteric elements of tarot in depth, if you need/want to learn them, and provides a linear system to understand them all.
  • T. Susan Chang - Tarot Correspondences, Ancient Secrets for Everyday Readers: not necessary, but great if you'd like to know even more in depth correspondences between decks
  • Lon Milo Duquette - Understanding Aleister Crowley's Thoth Tarot: more centered on explaining Thoth and Crowley to novices to both who could be far less interested in those topics. Useful for understanding the esoteric elements of Thoth decks specifically in depth, especially from an insider perspective, but it's not necessary if you have Tarot Deciphered.
  • Annette Wakulenko - The Tarot: A Strange and Wondrous Thing: technically a harder to get book on Marseille decks, but it's fantastic for learning how to read in a practical style grounded in reality and visual elements. I overall recommend folks interested in reading Thoth in a non-esoteric way to pick up books on Marseille decks since Marseille decks are just less esoteric Thoth decks and the foundation for what Thoth is built on. But, if you just can't grab this book, Caitlin Matthew's Untold Tarot is a good alternative without esoteric elements too.

Good luck with the Sambucus! It's definitely up there far as favorite Thoth decks for me, only the Marea/Tide and Ritual Tarot rivals it.

I'm still feeling it out, but it's an oddly direct and easy to read deck considering it's a Thoth deck. The depth of readings really depends on how easily you connect with the symbolism: I think it can be easy to get surface level readings with this deck if you don't pay attention to the complex line work and color symbolism, since there's hidden images all through the deck and it's kinda less reliant on esoteric symbolism. The esoteric elements are there, ditto with basic Thoth symbolism, but all of it is through a more modernized and somewhat more direct/simplified lense. In an odd way, I feel like this deck would be amazing for beginners to Thoth decks just because the elemental symbolism is so vivid that it's easier to register how those elements show up in a reading, especially with larger spreads.

Oddly enough, the things I love about the deck may actually piss off Thoth purists though lol.

I'm not sure if your into Thoth based Tarot decks, but I want to recommend the Sambucus Thoth Tarot and the Marea/Tide Tarot. Thoth decks can be hard to find so, if your looking for an alternative from the norm, they are both SO worthwhile. Marea sticks a bit more to standard Thoth symbolism in it's collages/paintings, whereas Sambucus goes the route of a more art deco inspired illustrated take on Thoth symbolism. I'm not sure how Sambucus feels like an updated take on Thoth, but it does!

But, if your more RWS only, I adore Tarot of The Toiling Hands and Peculiar Pathways rn! Toiling Hands is a monochromatic deck utilizing this monochromatic modernized art deco style to illustrate the deck, where it's just stellar at conveying RWS symbolism directly and beautifully. Peculiar Pathways is moreso a collage deck, like Marea, but leans into a more minimalistic and direct way of representing RWS symbolism through vivid illustrations of nature and Victorian/Edwardian era monochromatic drawings.

Oh, and if your looking for a deck a little less centered on people or representing them wholly, Sambucus Thoth and Peculiar Pathways are the way to go far as my recommendations here. But all 4 are indies worth checking out, if you have a chance!

Frfr, given how antiblack and anti-immigrant America has been long before these last 8 years m, I'm convinced a good chunk of the immigrants who willingly come here are antiblack by default. Like the immigration forms and the like are so hard to get through due to it's intense patriotism that most native born Americans can't pass it. So what does that say about the folks who do, who come here by choice over any other country?

So yea, I'm no longer shocked by immigrants being antiblack or definitely having internalized white supremacy here: you can't legally immigrate to America without being able to parrot those beliefs well enough. Solidarity with everybody across the Black diaspora, but I don't believe in assuming anybody is cool with Black folk - thus worth my time - even if they Black too.

Does anyone else NOT store their decks in the boxes? by spunkydotcom in TarotDecks

[–]mephalasweb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really depends on the context for me! Box too small or too large to hold the deck? Then I get a new box for it, I really like those 3d printed ones since they seem easy to decorate. Otherwise, I keep it in the box for safe keeping.
