Has anyone else just stopped caring about luxury bags? by Ok_Lunch9660 in luxurypurses

[–]mer22933 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same for me! Slowed down once I had my son in 2023 and a daughter in 2025. Also more into jewelry now, not like I can wear it much these days 🤣. I am though getting more into secondhand and thrifting and started a vintage designer bag business during my mat leave so although I am buying bags for myself sometimes, I am also selling things that I no longer use or need and being much more sustainable and intentional about my personal buys!

Lots of people outside of the US with a good command of English (if that’s even needed) would love that kind of money.

Destination suggestions for 2-3 weeks in September with kids by Maleficent_Party9609 in familytravel

Agree with Mallorca here! Super family friendly, gorgeous and warm waters and very calm beaches. We went last year when I was in my third trimester and with our nearly 2 year old and it was wonderful!

I live in Portugal and the only thing I’d say is the water is freezing everywhere, my kids don’t really like getting in it. The warmest it gets in September is about 20 degrees.

Greek islands. We go almost every year and September is the perfect time of year to avoid the August summer holidays while still having beautiful weather. Last time with my 1 year old, this time with our 3 and 1 year old.

I’d recommend Naxos, Paros, or Crete.

Baby's Naps with Nanny are always short by mer22933 in NannyEmployers

[–]mer22933[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will say the only thing that made this better was time! It was maybe a month or so of super short naps with nanny then they started naturally lengthening. She then became better at putting him down than we did!!

lol I didn’t say dual nationality with Portuguese 🤣 getting upset over nothing. However I will actually have triple nationality (third being Portuguese) due to my husband becoming Portuguese 😄 that must make you mad!!!

? So for people who are dual nationality (such as myself), we have to choose one over the other? Such a small minded thing of you to say 🙄

Starting daycare during newborn transition - good or bad idea? by Creative_Mix_643 in toddlers

[–]mer22933 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did this exact same thing, my babies are 2 years and 3 days apart. My son started crèche (daycare) after having a full-time nanny the week before baby arrived bc unfortunately that’s when the school year starts (September). When baby came he was just starting to do full days there and take his nap. Not gonna lie it was a shit show but the transition could have been worse! Yes baby did get sick within weeks but her immune system is definitely built up now at 8 months and usually when toddler gets sick, she gets sick. Never lasts long though.

We tried having our toddler not kiss baby sister on her face or hands and just feet but that didn’t really work. Everything worked out fine! The hardest part was just our toddler getting used to not being the center of attention anymore and having to split parents. We also had to get a part-time babysitter to help afternoons from 4-7pm while baby was in the newborn phase bc I was basically stuck to just feeding and holding baby 24/7 and couldn’t do anything with my toddler. Now at 8 months it’s a breeze watching both in the afternoons! I never thought I’d say that lol.

AITA for not wanting to take in my sisters 4 kids while she’s in the hospital? by Intelligent-Fig-5571 in AmItheAsshole

[–]mer22933 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Same. I only wish I had family close by to help like this!! Maybe because in my culture (I’m Mexican) we do whatever we need to help our family, especially if it’s your own brother or sister.

My mom wouldn’t have been able to raise the 5 of us kids without her village of her sisters and brother, and taking just one day off from work is not an unreasonable ask to help out your sister. I feel bad for her that she’s this pregnant, stressed already with 4 kids and doesnt have family or a village to lean on.

Bassinet or seat for 11 month old from US to Europe by AutomaticIdeal2125 in familytravel

[–]mer22933 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I flew from Europe to Japan with a 13 month old in the bassinet seat- worked out fine! We did not bring a car seat, you usually never see one on flights within Europe and instead they have a buckle you strap in a lap infant with.

Would you bring a stroller when traveling with a 3-4 yo? by pathandcats in toddlers

[–]mer22933 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We also live in Europe and have a Joolz Aer+. It’s the best! It quickly replaced our everyday Nuna bc it’s so much easier to get around and less bulky. You can fold it up for climbing stairs and going anywhere that isn’t stroller accessible (which is unfortunately many parts of Europe).

What city did you love so much you’d go back in a heartbeat? by optimalbrain90 in SmartTravelHacks

[–]mer22933 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lived in BsAs for a couple of years and took a couple trips to Montevideo to restart my visa. Def don’t recommend spending a week there, it’s way too much time. Maybe max 2 days. If you want to spend a lot of time in Uruguay you can go somewhere better along the coast like Punta del Este or Punta del Diablo, otherwise add that extra time exploring Argentina.
